ABOVE THE RIVERS EDGE #2

Above the Rivers Edge Cabin #2 was completed in June of 2020 and sits beside our sister cabin, Above the Rivers Edge. The cabins are peacefully nestled between the beautiful Shenandoah River and the Massanutten Mountains. Shenandoah National Park is only 20 minutes away and provides beautiful mountain/ valley scenery and amazing views that will give memories for a lifetime. Shenandoah National Park also features many walking, hiking, and bicycle trails. The famous Luray Caverns is within a 10 mile drive and is ready to be explored by those who have yet to witness its natural beauty. There are many other attractions and amenities to experience in our quaint little town of Luray. The town is located just south of the property (approximately 7 miles). There you will experience locally owned businesses and some amazing restaurants.
Our cabin sits within 150' of the Shenandoah River and our private river access is a perfect fit for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, or just someone looking for beautiful views. Want to beat the heat or cold? This property offers a rural setting with amazing views and is equipped with central air and heat for those rainy days.
This cabin features Cedar and Oak wood through out the entire property from the ceiling, to the walls and floors. From the first step into the cabin, you can see and smell the scent of fresh Cedar. The master bedroom is on the main floor with sliding glass doors that allow you access to the wrap around deck. The open loft has views of the mountains and views of the river. The living room and kitchen has an open floor plan and the kitchen is fully furnished with everything you need. There is also an LP gas fireplace. Below the cabin, you will find the hot tub where you can relax and listen to the river. Whether you want to enjoy a beautiful summer day on the river, a cold night snuggled up by the fireplace or spreading out a blanket on the deck and star gazing, our cabin has it all to offer!

Quite and relaxing with a beautiful view.
We had a very nice quiet and relaxing stay with a beautiful view of the Shenandoah River. The house is in a great location near Luray where there is a lot to do. The house is very clean looking almost brand new. The kitchen is well stocked for normal cooking.

Pros/Cons of cabin in a great location
Myself & spouse stayed with another couple. We found the cabin very clean. Gorgeous wood throughout. Location on the river is lovely, peaceful. The hot tub was very nice. Appliances in good working order. Plenty of hot water. Road requires SUV - should be in listing, regular vehicle would be damaged. 2nd bedroom is open loft, bed up there made noise at slightest movement, disturbing everyone. Faceclothes, hand towels were too few, property mgr said to bring towels. A single kitchen towel - need dish & hand towel minimum. Comfortable bed on1st floor with just 2 very low quality pillows. Kitchen knife set seen in Dollar Gen'l for $13 & knives couldn't cut anything - purchased a knife for cooking. No Tupperware style containers or bowls with lids for leftovers, nor any foil/wrap to cover anything, fortunately had brought a couple of ziplock bags. Purchased a few forks, there were just 4, 2 were midget-sized. No saucers, so putting a stick of butter on a luncheon plate! "Grill" is a gas powered GRIDDLE, no other grill at the site. No closet with hangers, no hooks for jackets, robes, etc. but drawer space is good. A drying rack for towels, bathing suits or rinsed out clothes would be helpful. Not in listing, but there is a blow dryer. No Wifi (and owners don't list that anyway) but I got 5G on new iphone with T-Mobile. Close to Caverns & town.

Second Visit
We love this cabin. So peaceful. No internet! Really get away! The road down to the cabin and river is quite bumpy. It's a real adventure. Make sure your vehicle can handle it. Kitchen has most everything needed. The wood floor, walls, ceiling is so warm and charming.

Weekend with daughter and grandsons
Cabin was a great place to relax and just enjoy the river and mountains view. After we did our day activities, kayaking, zip lining and checking out the Luray Caverns. We love every bit of the place, from the road in with the cattle and the deer. To the cabin itself, to the river. We would love to come back at a later date. Just to let you know, when we arrived at the cabin the key wasn't in the lock box.We found it under the door mat.

Great spot
The place was as advertised. It was clean and comfy. Great spot by the river. One complaint, we couldn’t use washer and dryer because they were under the house in utility room which was locked and we had no key. Besides that is was a really nice place.

Cabin on the River
The cabin is as advertised. The accommodations are nice, very basic, no frills. No wi-fi, but the had TV access. The outside boasts different sitting areas and a hot tub. The cabin is on the river an but there is no path to get to the bank. You have to walk over some weeds, tall grass, and rocks. The area is quiet and isolated though there are other cabins along the road. We saw deer in the mornings and evenings in the field. We spent 2 days hiking in Shenandoah NP and one day checking out the Luray Caverns and Front Royal. The host was very responsive to texts during our stay.

Wonderful time!
The cabin is beautiful! The view of the river is gorgeous. My kids had a great time skipping rocks and wading into the water a bit. We had fun hiking in the Shenandoah mountains and visiting Luray Caverns. There was little to no cell phone reception at the cabin. It was actually great to disconnect for a while, but this is a heads up to not rely on your phone for planning purposes. We were able to get cell phone service in Luray. Would highly recommend!

President's Day Getaway
My wife and I had an amazing time at this cabin home by the Shenandoah River. The house is just down the road from Luray and is located right next to the Shenandoah River. Everything about the place was great- the hottub was nice and hot with clear instructions, the gas fireplace inside was perfect and easy to use, the kitchen was well equipped, the rooms nice and beds comfy, plus lots of balcony/porch space all around the house. The only issue was the drive in- you definitely want an SUV of some kind to get to the house as the road gets a bit rough in spots. It starts as a paved road but then becomes dirt/gravel with some dips and bumps. Otherwise, we had a perfect time and plan on coming back sometime later this year!

Great Stay in Luray
We choose this house as our access point to Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns. The house was perfect for our family of four, it was super clean and sat right on the river. An absolutely beautiful setting - close to Luray and different access points to Skyline drive.

Very Nice Return Trip!
My second time renting this property (last year was the first) and it was clean and warm and well-appointed. I noticed a few upgrades between seasons that were appreciated! (New umbrella, towels). A suggestion given that the property is supposed to sleep 4. There is one small hook on the back of the bath door to hang a shirt, a wet towel, whatever. Given the river's draw to play in/fish, a guest could use a better way to deal with wet clothes and towels, even if its just bath towels. And we only had a single roll of toilet paper, though we ran into the property manager's sister, who was able to help us out. :-) Will definitely be back. So relaxing. A really nice property!!

Geat Getaway
Great Cabin. Perfect for the two of us. We were trying to get away from everything and this was the right place. The setting by the river is excellent. Having the river as background noise is very relaxing. Being able to just walk out of the cabin and into the river to play was really cool. We took meals down to the covered picnic area by the water and just watched nature (and a few paddlers) go by. The wrap around deck is the perfect place to get outside and read. Easy moving in and out of the cabin, too. You can park right next to the stairway up to the main level. One suggestion: It was raining both the day we arrived and the day we left. Getting in and out of the cabin would be easier if the storm door swung in the other direction. Minor point. The cabin is decorated nicely and was clean. The kitchen is nicely appointed and was perfect for the two of us. We even had a choice of coffee machines! The cabin is situated close to Luray, so their is plenty to do if you are interested: Luray Caverns (highly recommended), Shenandoah River Outfitters (you can paddle right by the cabin!), and the Hawksbill Greenway in Luray is a nice walk and near shops and restaurants. The cabin does not have internet service. Our phones (AT&T) had enough connectivity for email and simple browsing, but not streaming.. A DVD player and a choice of vacation movies would be a nice touch. If you have the choice, drive your SUV or van. The dirt road that covers the last mile+ into the cabin is in rough shape.
