"Immediately beside the Duke of Marlborough is their Waterfront Apartment called 'The Bungalow'. Nice to be at ground level with our own little courtyard. Fabulous Apartment furnished beautifully and Art depicting the location on the walls. Well supplied kitchenette. Excellent dinner and breakfast on the deck of 'Duke'. We blessed the peacefulness of the area in the shoulder season. "

"Great for a night away. We have stayed in a couple of hotels in Paihia, but always come back to the Kingsgate Hotel. The rooms are always clean and comfortable. We stayed in a king bed room which has a small seating area with a table and a couch. Bathroom was clean and tidy. Would recommend to couples or family’s. "

"It’s truly impossible to put into words just how wonderful this place is. “Incredible” doesn’t begin to describe it—think of every positive adjective you can, and it still probably wouldn’t do it justice! We stayed at the First Light Villa and every detail has been so thoughtfully considered to make your stay feel seamless and special. Lauren and Kim were the most gracious hosts, going above and beyond to take care of us. They drove us into town for dinner and picked us up afterward and offered to pick us up or drop us into town anytime. Hospitality at its finest. We walked into town and back during the day via the trails Lauren showed us. And the villa… just wow. It’s something you have to experience to truly understand. The photos are lovely, but they don’t capture the peaceful energy and magic of the space. It’s serene and calming—almost zen-like. The jacuzzi, tucked into the lush greenery, is an absolute dream. There are two fireplaces—one inside and one on the deck, adding a cozy charm that’s perfect for any time of day. The kitchen was fully stocked with breakfast essentials (and then some): smoked salmon, yogurt, oatmeal, eggs—anything we requested! It was luxury from start to finish. The views are simply breathtaking, and the expansive deck is the ideal spot to soak them all in. The upstairs bedroom is spectacular, with panoramic windows that make waking up feel like a dream. We’ve stayed in many places over the years, but this one tops the list. "

"Little Red Shed is in an excellent location with access to walks, shops, cafes, the main sights in Russell and the ferry wharf for the Paihia-Russell crossing all within a very short walk. Little Red Shed is tastefully and thoughtfully presented for an enjoyable stay in Russell."

"Overall the house was great! We loved walking to the sweet secluded beach just down the path from the property and the proximity to town was perfect. One challenge is the air conditioning. The two a/c units serve the living room/kitchen and then the other serves the bunk room. That leaves the other two bedrooms without a/c. Our stay was during the heat of summer so I imagine this would not have been an issue during other seasons, but it did get a bit too warm for us. Also, the bed pillows and sheets were surprisingly not great (the mattress was good). We’ve stayed in many rentals and these were the worst pillows we have ever encountered, unfortunately.Otherwise a great stay!"
