"People in the pub-(it’s not a hotel really as its rooms above the pub) are excellent. First class friendly people. Food (burgers) really tasty. Student / young people Saturday evening. Rooms are pretty dated - old shower tray wouldn’t empty so feet had a bath- but fine for a couple in nights (up in Newcastle for football) just to sleep in before getting up to enjoy the City. Walk to main shopping area/ city and football ground. Friendly people. This is not a 5 star Hilton esque hotel- but that’s not a problem - didn’t expect it. Plus points- the bar staff and workers are so great! Negative - area is a little run down/ graffiti and fortune building next door was derelict so could park there. "

"Lovely stay, comfy bed, dinner at onsite pub was delicious. Extensive, well maintained grounds to walk around. Loved the small things like the notice in our room offering fresh milk and ice if you called reception and the filtered water dispenser in the area outside our room "

"Arriving was difficult as tree and bushes block sign until its to late to turn. Car parking there is a lot but i wax never dure if it was 2 way or just one. Garden nice but the concrete hairs etc were filthy. So no wsy could you sit out id like to have but couldnt even see how to get tound there. Room was nice i wadnt keen on the tiny loo claustrophobic... i also would not have stayed. If id realised dogs were allowed into hotel and resteraunts. Dog by me seemed small but bitey. And i certainly didnt feel it appropriate in resteraunt.. there was no information in room. Re meal times , menu. I wanted a light snack on friday but there were no sandwiches orl ight bites. So i had a breakfast bar from. My car . I was disappointed in breakfast. Bacon had been kept hot so long it was dry and the sausage tasted cheap and nasty . On day 2 buffet breakfast dried beans.. bacon solid and all lukewarm. its fair to say i was dissapointed. May be worth a look at other places breakfasts. I regularly hotel stay around newcastle as a geordie i live away and visit... but sadly i was not as thrilled with my visit to novatel. It was not as good as visits for meals that ive had in the past."
