"A three night stay to break our journey back to Roscoff and lovely to relax here. Unfortunately due to weather (it was October!) we couldn't sit outside which looks a lovely space. Hopefully we will be back in better weather."

"Tout d'abord la demeure des propriétaires a été rénovée et décorée avec goût (petit + pour les peintures de l'appartement réalisées par Fabrine, la maîtresse des lieux). Total confort, tout y est, comme à la maison (lave-vaisselle, lave linge, cafetière, four, micro-ondes...). La piscine est chauffée, nous avons pu en profiter tous les jours, très belle réalisation du propriétaire. Juste un petit problème de trouver le bon chemin en arrivant à la tombée du jour, car l’adresse n’est pas reconnue par le gps. Il n’y a pas trop de réseau, mais ça nous n’a pas beaucoup dérangé. "A lovely holiday. The gite has a beautiful garden to sit in and is equipped to a very good standard.A warm welcome from René and Nicole on our arrival. We came to see the Châteaux of the Loire and there were many located very close to the gite. We didn't realise from the description that the bathroom was on a different floor to the bedrooms. This wasn't a problem for us, but could have been for others."

"We had a wonderful time. Frederic has a very special place; beautifully and thoughtfully presented with everything we could need for us and our two young children. The surroundings are hard to beat too - we explored local vineyards, castles and swimming lakes as well as lovely Chinon a short drive away. We wish we could have stayed longer - we would love to return and tick more off the list!"

"The gite was lovely and in a beautiful village with a number of restaurants within easy walking distance. Sylvie was very welcoming and always friendly. Unfortunately our visit was let down by three things. Firstly whilst on our arrival the pool side furniture was out and we were told we were welcome to use it, by the Monday, the loungers had been put away and the table and chairs covered. It would have been nice if they were put out each day. I suppose we could have asked, but felt...

"Nothing like the pictures when we booked. Very shabby accommodation. One indoor very crowded pool and No facilities on site, you have to go int Saumur which is a lovely city. You have to pay extra for bedding . Beds uncomfortable and furniture all very old. Definitely not worth the money. "

"A fascinating property with a history. Fabulous views of the chateau from the bedroom windows and from the courtyard. Right in the centre of Saumur, but had a large heated indoor swimming pool. The extra treat was the pool table and pinball machine. It was easy enough to reverse the cars into the courtyard with practice. It was lovely and convenient for restaurants, the chateau and the bakery. Gilles, our host was at the end of a phone if we needed him. Nicole the housekeeper made us welcome...

A good choice

"Our third stay here. A very good, modern, stylish room and excellent breakfast. Staff are so helpful. Hotel has private secure parking at rear. Hotel is central so handy for walking round Saumur. Close to plenty of restaurants/ bistros so great choice. "

"This place is impeccable. In spite of it being in an historic building it has been lovingly maintained. Our triple room had an enormous bedroom with twin sinks. The beds were in separate rooms and there were original paintings on the walls. Breakfast was very good. Stay there if you’re in the area."

Convenient and welcoming

"Hotel Ibis is convenient for those travelling to Saumur by train-- property is literally right across street from station. Friendly service ( I can speak a bit of French; they could speak some English so all good for check-in, etc! Also.one staffer who was fully bilingual.). Good breakfast in pleasant dining area. Also a cozy bar and in nice weather a courtyard. There is a v.good Italian restaurant next door, and cafe 2 blocks away. You will want to go into Saumur Centre-- a 15 minute walk over 2 bridges. Lots to explore and many eating choices there. "
