"Stayed one night on road trip around Dumfries and Galloway. Was allocated top floor triple room with fantastic view over the harbour. Room itself was clean and spacious and the bed was comfortable. Only negative was the small en-suite with an incredibly tiny wash hand basin and no rasonable opportunity to hang up towels. Great, plentiful breakfast and friendly and helpful staff."

"The young staff, most of them from the Stranraer area, could not have been friendlier, or prouder of their home town and surrounding area. At times there were signs that there were insufficient staff on duty, which caused delays at mealtimes and in the bar. The staff continued to do their very best; any resulting problems were due to this apparent lack of resources. "

"Excellent country house hotel. The greatest asset are the staff who are welcoming , efficient and friendly. Room was immaculately clean. Grounds are beautiful to explore. Will definitely make this an annual visit. "

"The service from staff for our duration was second to none and nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotless, comfortable and had great facilities. It was my partner's birthday and in addition to the free drink they gave us both helped make her and my weekend very memorable. The evening meal and breakfast was absolutely top notch. "When we arrived the staff were very helpful, and although we had arrived a couple of hours before check in, they advised us that the room was ready and we could drop our luggage off. They informed us that the car parking is anywhere in the public parking area, and there were plenty of spaces directly across the road from the Hotel. The Hotel itself is right on the Waterfront, although the name may give that away, and there is an outside seating area, to enjoy the sunshine with a few drinks from...

"We enjoyed our stay at the Piersland and would stay again. However, first impressions were not great. The reception area is tired and in need of modernisation. A friendly welcome would also have been nice. We were told our room number and that it was outside, but no directions were given, so we were left wandering about trying to find it. The Lodge room was lovely, nice and bright and well equipped. One thing to mention is that the shower is over bath and may not suit people with mobility...
