in the 1700"s Old Toll Cottage, once collected Tolls for the hill road to Newton Stewart. Now renovated and standing in its own grounds this lovely top quality cottage is available for holiday lets. With a large private garden (with Garden Room) which runs down to the river Girvan and looks up the valley to the hills.
We now have a new Kitchen and have extended the dining area.

Fishing permit's for the river can be puchased from the village shop.
Ryanair flys into Prestwick only 20 minutes away.
This is a great area to visit and the cottage is truly delightful.
On the edge of the Galloway Forest the cottage is very well situated for great walks and has many Golf Courses with in easy reach including Turnberry and Troon.
Glasgow is just over one hour away, an easy day trip to visit Kelvingrove Gallery or for shopping.

Surprisingly bright the cottage has two double bedrooms one with a Superking bed 6'6 the other with a 5ft King size. The cottage has Central heating. There is also a log burning stove in the lounge for colder days, TV and internet. A modern bathroom with bath and seperate shower. A spacious kitchen is well equipped with a ceramic hobb, oven, dish washer, washing machine, clothes drying rack, micowave etc. and has a small sun lounge attached which is used for dining.
Across a narrow and quiet road there is a large private garden belonging to the Cottage which runs down to the River Girvan. Ideal for barbeques.
This is a great walking area with many listed walks. The cottage is also within easy reach of famous Aryshire links such as Turnberry, Troon and Prestwick.

Recommended - lovely area and home
The house was clean, comfortable and pleasant, the area lovely and it was easy to travel to a number of places of interest. The communication was prompt when we made contact. Good food options limited but can be found within a reasonable distance if you are not a big fan of cooking while on holiday.

Old Toll Cottage, the Tardis
The property looks small from the outside, however, it’s surprisingly spacious inside. A very comfortable bed, with all the kit you could need in the kitchen once the hidden drawer is located. The summer house and garden on the other side of the very quiet road are a delight, we loved coming back and sitting out with a glass or two. Would highly recommend……….

Amazing Break
Everything was brilliant. The cottage was very welcoming, it felt really cosy and has everything you would ever need. There is so much to do and we were out and about every day, so did not have a chance to relax in the lovely summer house, perhaps next time. There are lots of walking trails on the doorstep and beaches and harbours not far away. A walk up the Straiton Monument most evenings set us up for tea. It is one holiday where we probably came home fitter than we went. I think if you were looking for a less active holiday, this would be ideal too. It is in a peaceful location and you could watch the world go by as you sit by the river bank. Missing it already.

Idyllic
Absolutely loved the cottage and everything it had to offer especially sitting outside the summerhouse overlooking the river waiting on the dinner cooking on the barbecue. Located in beautiful countryside with very friendly people in the village. Couldn't have asked for more really for a short break away with lots of peace and quiet. Would highly recommend. One thing I would liked to have seen was a table and chairs outside the cottage if you wanted a quick sit down with a cup of tea rather than cross the road and go to the summerhouse. There was no where to sit immediately outside the house. Had a super relaxing time.

Simply outstanding
We have just had the best 10 days I can remember. We were lucky with weather which made it all the better. The cottage is lovely, the garden over the road is stunning and the area is great. The Black Bull pub is great for a laugh and food and so much to do around. The hosts were honest, straightforward and kind. Cannot recommend it enough. This is one place we will be returning to.

Truly Wonderful
We has a week at the Old Toll Cottage in Straiton and enjoyed it immensely. The Cottage met and exceeded our expectations and the locals are very friendly. We journeyed to Ayre and Girvan and visited Trump Turnbury as well as local villages. All in all, a great week. The only issue was one of a near neighbours dog continually visiting and causing my dog to be a bit frantic. The garden opposite and the summer house overlooking the river are both great places to spend a warm sunny day. We were very lucky to have had a great week weather wise too. 10 out of 10.

Quiet getaway
We were looking for a quiet location, local to lots of walks and not too far from civilization. We found the perfect spot. Lovely little cottage with everything you could want, a real home from home. The kitchen is vastly stocked with every utensil you could need and more, the beds are amazing and the 2 sofas are perfect after a long days walk. The cabin by the river was amazing to sit in, when the weather allowed, and watch the world go by, so peaceful and relaxing. Only downside was the morning alarm clock of the logging trucks thundering past and shaking the cottage!! Would definitely come back again.
