Then on departure, with minutes to spare, you are told to clean the whole place yourself or pay another €50. It’s not unusual to ask for a cleaning fee, but...

"Ein gemütliches Haus mit allem, was man braucht. Sehr sauber und schön eingerichtet. Die Vermieter sind unglaublich nett, sprechen aber leider kein Englisch, aber wussten wir vorher. In dem Ort selbst ist nicht viel los. Leider auch kaum Möglichkeiten, um Essen zu gehen. Die kann man aber sehr schön in den benachbarten Orten. Alles in allem bekommt man genau, was man erwartet. Es war sehr nett und wir kommen sehr gerne wieder."

"The cottage was excellent and Romain was a gracious and friendly host, very responsive and knowledgeable of the area. The rooms, beds and kitchen were super comfortable and of good quality furnishings and AC. The pool was lovely and Romain gladly provided an umbrella on the patio by the pool. "We had two weeks at this wonderful Gite hosted by a wonderful couple - Brigitte and Thierry. They were very welcoming and their Gite was perfect for three of us, very tastefully decorated and set in an olive grove, lovely to sit and relax in. There was plenty see and do in the region too - a great location for a holiday."
