Don't sleep on Orvieto either - the churches are beautiful, there's the amazing underground tours, and some of the best (while still being the cheapest?) food we had during our two week stop. "

We visited nearby towns and sampled local wine plus visited Saturnia hot springs - a worthy day trip. Only 10 min to grocery store and hospital but a world away - like being back in time. "Overall, this was probably the best Italian rental we have ever had. The location just beneath the wonderful hill top town of Panicale makes exploring both Umbria & southern Tuscany very doable. "This place was perfect for us. We arranged to stay here for one night, which was a big mistake. We should have stayed here several days, making day trips to Pitigliano, Sovana, Civita, Saturnia, and anywhere else nearby we wanted to visit.
