My only issue would be it's a little bit cold in places but it's a old building whose owners (not staff) need to give it a bit of TLC "

"Lovely hotel/lodgings. Beautiful bathroom! Nice and warm room. Cosy fire at the bar which was nice and cosy . Tastefully decorated. The food looked gorgeous as it was taken past us going to the restaurant, and we will eat here next time. ***Big shout out to Phoebe, our breakfast waitress. The breakfast chef didn't show up and until the replacement chef came, she was run off her feet supplying us all with toast and tea and coffee etc. She was fabulous and super friendly *** Downside -:the bar...

"Lovely people and delicious food. Bar was very friendly. Spacious room (#5) and big and comfortable bed. No internet in bedroom (think it was faulty as it showed a signal) but OK in bar. Water pressure in room #5 very poor but clean a pleasant bathroom. No mobile service but that is obviously not The Maypole’s fault!"

"With so much to do and see in the Yorkshire dales, the Plough Inn is the perfect location. Very friendly and helpful staff escorting us to the room and making sure we were comfortable. Friendly bar staff providing a good selection of wines, beers and spirits at sensible prices. The restaurant menu is perfect. Simple and straightforward choice and the food is the same, just perfect."

"Amazing. Right from the start the staff were friendly, polite and welcoming. Food was delicious - we ate at the hotel for dinner - having the 'pigs' in blanket sharing starter and then both steak pies. Next morning - breakfast was great - although there was no 'bacon' for us - the server compensated by offering us additional sausages - so it wasn't too much of a disappointment. "

"Really enjoyed our stay. Only negative was that the dinner menu was the same each night. The staff were very friendly and polite. A very dog friendly hotel too - you had the option to have meals in a nice room with your dog - this isn’t the case in some dog friendly hotels. Would stay again."

The ambience & the decor is beautiful but it was the service we received by all of the staff and the food which was the highlight of our trip.
