"We went for a three day break after new year. The hotel was slightly busier than we or the staff expected which created a great atmosphere. The hotel is rooms above a restaurant/Pub, neither of which can be heard when you get to your room which was a real pleasant surprise. The residents lounge area at the front of the pub is a great idea, when the log fires are on it really is a great place to relax with a drink and let the dog sleep after a days walking. The bedroom was compact, but very clean & comfortable. The ensuite bathroom (beautifully decorated) is a great size, unlike the bath which was on the small side! The choice of food & drink was superb, lots of fresh ingredients used in the menu. The breakfast was superb, with lots of choice. I have to mention the staff, who from check In to check out were amazing! They are extremely professional and friendly with it. They couldn'tdo more to make you feel very welcome! The village of Pooley bridge is a great base for exploring the Northern area of the lakes. The fact it snowed whilst we were there only added to the villages beauty. We will definitely be returning!
