"Stayed on a routine trip to Melton Mowbray. The White Lion was reasonably priced, warm and comfortable, with WiFi that worked well enough for me to work using Teams. The owners and their staff were friendly and helpful. The English breakfast was cooked to perfection and as it was included in the price just making it very good value. I travel every week, and it is nice to find a warm room as well as a warm welcome."

Only negative, which would stop me staying there again, the toilet has a glass wall around it with hardly any frosting on the glass. Sorry but whoever designed this is either kinky or odd. However I don’t think the room had been fully prepared - there was no loo roll, the lights in the corridor outside were turned off (making it difficult to get into the room!) and there was no milk with the tea & coffee tray. Breakfast was poor so I didn’t have any… However I would stay again due to great location and reasonable cost."

"A really nice welcome on arrival. My room was amazing, a big 4 poster bed, old wooden wardrobe and period chair. Plenty of choice for tea and coffee. I had fish and chips which was lovely and I didnt see any plates on other tables that hadn't been eaten completely, so must be good. A real fire kept thing really nice and cosy and the guiness was spot on. Continental breakfast in the morning was great and my croissant was lively and fresh and warm."

Typical of the Vale of Belvoir villages, Langar is built on a shallow ridge above the floor of the Vale. 54676, on the edge of the village, sits right on the edge of the ridge. The main landscaped gardens to the north drop steeply away from the drive and car-park towards a "ribbon" lake set out in a grid pattern, see the 1:25000 OS map. The stone wall with the pineapple finials is all that remains of an ornamental bridge which once crossed an extension of the lake, now filled in.
