I was concerned that the neighborood on the dock might be a whoop-it-up loud all-night-long kind of party crowd (and I am VERY boring), but everyone was going-out-of-their way charming and kind. Overall - it was lovely. Highly recommend it. Perfect getaway. "

"Staying in the houseboat was an adventure. We had a few hiccups in the check-in process but the hosts were very responsive and everything was sorted out very quickly. The houseboat was made in the 60s so some things were as I expected and some things such as the heating was not. The first night of the stay the temps dropped down into the 30s and the boat was COLD! "This was a cozy place to spend Thanksgiving weekend after visiting family in Rockford. I was craving the crackle and pop of a wood burning fireplace and arrived with plenty of firewood. The fireplace is GAS which was a surprise. Besides that minor let down it was a comfortable weekend and the river is beautiful. Great shower, good kitchen. It was frigid during our stay so we didn't get to take of advantage of the parks in the area, but there are plenty of options for outdoor activities nearby....
