We stayed at Nazuna Tsubaki St. in Kyoto for one night over our honeymoon. The room, the property, and the area were fantastic but the staff is what made it exceptional. We mentioned to Ariel that we were going to USJ for Nintendo world and she made us a personalized card with paper art to congratulate us. The Japanese and western breakfasts were wonderful and the provided amenities were very high quality, if we ever get the chance to stay here again we will gladly book again!

It’s in a residential neighborhood so there’s not a lot of dining options. There’s a bus station that can take you to Kyoto station. The hotel offers breakfast. The room has two floors, so going up and down is inconvenient. The stairs are also steep so have to be extra careful when going up and down.

Offered a good modern ryokan experience with in room onsen. The staff are young, friendly and enthusiastic about their job to make the stay a comfortable one, though service can be more refined. Excellent Wague dinner at Bungon and a very pretty Japanese breakfast! Had a wonderful and rested stay.

We wish we could give the staff 6 stars. Sura was an amazing host who went above and beyond to make our stay the best one yet anywhere in Japan. She accommodated all of our needs, gave great recommendations, and ensured that we were more than satisfied with our stay at the ryokan. The grounds are elegant and the room was so special and romantic. Would highly recommend Nazuna Kyoto Tsubaki St!

I booked this 6months in advance. It was me, my husband and two year old traveling. I was so excited for this hotel because it looked so cool and had such great reviews. i believed the cost was worth it for the experience. When I booked on Expedia, nowhere did it flag that children under 6 are not allowed. Flash forward and I am now in Tokyo one day prior to my reservation. My Tokyo hotel called Nazuna Kyoto to coordinate luggage transfers. Thats when they were told babies are not allowed at the property. Obviously, this was after the deadline to cancel. I immediately booked a new hotel and decided I would deal with the refund upon returning from vacation. When I returned, I spoke to Expedia customer service on 4 separate occasions. Each time, I had to start my explanation all over as to what happened and why I was requesting a refund. I was denied each time for not cancelling within the allowed window of time by the hotel. On the hotel landing page, you will need to navigate to the fifth tab “policies.” Then into the fine print under “children and extra beds” to see kids under 5 not allowed. Whomever manages the Expedia landing page should have been more transparent of this policy. Nothing flagged. Noting popped up. As a frequent hotel patron, this is an unusual policy. It wasn't on my radar. I even disputed the charge with my credit card- but Expedia denied again for not cancelling in the acceptable timeframe. I was left paying a significant amount for Expedia’s failure.
