As soon as you walk through the door you are amazed. The rooms are a little smaller than I thought but it was really just a place to rest and relax before heading back out! Great little restaurant at the base which offers free refreshments at 3 which was very nice

Loved the decor & overall vibe of the hotel -- it was quiet and dimly-lit in a way that I found super relaxing. The staff was wonderful and made me feel really welcome. The rice porridge breakfast was delicious. It's a short walk away from Kyoto station, so getting around was a breeze. I liked the fact that it was a few minutes away from the more crowded, tourist-y bits of the city but still conveniently located. Great value overall, I'd book another stay in a heartbeat if I visit Kyoto again.

Hotel Tou Nishinotoin Kyoto offers a truly relaxing stay with incredibly friendly staff who make you feel right at home. The rooms have a beautiful zen aesthetic that creates a peaceful atmosphere—I slept better here than in any other hotel. Plus, the convenience of a 24-hour laundromat just around the corner is a fantastic bonus. Highly recommend for a restful Kyoto experience!

Nice quiet, clean, and safe area. Staff are very friendly and speak english. Checkin and checkout was easy. Only cons are - Bathroom was quite small and bedroom didnt have blockout blinds so it was very bright in the early morning.

Beautiful design - highly recommend!
We loved the style of the room/design of the hotel and it was a pretty good location. The bathroom was quite small compared to some other places we stayed throughout Japan, but it had everything we needed (so no real complaint). The 2 twin beds is perfect for a friend trip for everyone to have their own space while sleeping. The one thing we noticed here and throughout Japan is that the beds/pillows can be quite hard, but great duvet covers and easy lighting/outlet situation throughout the room.

Excellent stay
Wonderful experience…beautiful design in modernized ryokan style seems best description—mattress beds on raised tatami platform. Nice onsen in basement. Staff very helpful eg with taxis. It’s a little away from subway—but coffee shops and izakaya a few minutes away.
