The location near the town is great (make sure to have a car!) and still close enough to Heraklion. There were plenty of beds and the layout of the houses/villas was great for a large group. "Very secluded location. Villa worked well for us as a party of 16 as it is laid out as 4 separate apartments. Villa owner very helpful and allowed us to set up a communal kitchen. During our stay the owner responded promptly to any request e.g. repair of basketball hoop for the kids! Plenty of supermarkets in nearby Perama. Good beaches within 20-30 minutes drive. Would recommend at least a day in Rethymno - water sports and Old Town."

"We were made welcome as soon as we arrived. A food “basket” was waiting upon our arrival which was plenty for the 8 of us until we could go shopping the next day. The property was very spacious and clean. Helen the cleaner came in every 2/3 days to clean the Villa, change beds and towels. We had a fantastic stay and was made to feel welcome from the owner as soon as we arrived. Such a beautiful island with lots to see. Would definitely go back."

"A beautiful villa in a great location. We were able to walk to the local village in less than 10 minutes which has great places to eat and a well stocked, small shop. Lovely view to the hills and sea with an easy drive to the nearest beach in 5 minutes.
