"Hospitality is top-notch, an 11/10 if I could, and this made up to some degree for the tired and old condition of the rooms, which also has a musty smell in the bath and bathroom. Common areas of the ryokan, especially the lounge and onsen, were terrific. I have to mention again the absolutely terrific hospitality of all the staff, which made returning to the ryokan each day feel so welcoming. From the lovely old obaasan greeting us at the door each day, to the old ladies preparing fresh flower arrangements every day, to the matcha and sweets in the lounge right after we return from a day out, and also the jazz and piano music, and coffee and drinks in the lounge."
