The space
Built in the 1950’s by my grandparents, this vintage but tidy, RUSTIC but cozy cottage is self contained, fully equipped for a short or medium term stay. Built on the first property, welcoming you home for now, to Darling's Island.
It’s a serene spot sitting on the banks of the Hammond River, surrounded by nature and is really where you’ll want to spend most of your time. The Century old Covered Bridge (now just for foot and bicycle traffic) is just a stroll down your driveway and as of Spring 2023, is now beautifully restored.
Inside Kissing Bridge Cottage, you’ll find the space thoughtfully laid out for optimal views of the river, functionality and relaxing.
The mud room was created to give you an area for all of your extra travel items, as well as jackets and shoes. It also stores beach necessities, extra folding chair and lounger, fire pit items and things for your pup, even a bed.
The kitchen has all you need to cook and dine, the table has 4 chairs, plus 2 extra stools for company. It’s fully stocked along with a Toaster/Microwave/Blender/Slowcooker/drip Coffee Brewer. As well as spices/oil/coffee/tea/fridge condiments.
In the cozy living room there’s comfortable seating for everyone. The bookshelf is bursting with games and books. You’ll also find extra blankets, slippers. Everything you need to curl up and unwind when needed or if the weather isn’t the best.
The bedroom off the living room holds a queen sized bed, dresser, closet and smart tv.
Off the kitchen, the hallway closet is where you’ll find the laundry facilities, extra paper products and cleaning supplies.
The second bedroom has a double/full bed with a dresser and small smart tv and is closest to the washroom.
The small but bright bathroom includes a shower stall, linen and toiletries.
The private deck is equipped with seating for 4 and a BBQ, and on the lawn continues to your large picnic table with umbrella for traditional outdoor dining.
Your front yard overlooks the gorgeous covered bridge and holds is its own bonfire pit and chairs, so make sure to bring firewood to enjoy cozy evenings of gazing at the stars.
Fishing and swimming are encouraged.
Floaties can be on hand for lazy river afternoons.
Kayaking/Canoeing are really the best way to immerse yourself in the beautiful Hammond River channels. Luckily we have many kayaks, paddle boards and a canoe just for our guests to use along with paddles, life jackets and dry bags.
The backyard has a small Cabin (about 100' from the cottage) and likely has up to 2 guest on vacation as well, this is intended as their area.
BOTH our Cottage and Cabin guests SHARE the small private beach, kayaks/paddles/safety gear. There’s a few lawn games too.
This is a Classic Canadian Cottage, re-created for a fun and relaxing vacation and/or a base for exploring more of New Brunswick’s beauty.
The Island has a peaceful vibe that allows you to feel at home and unwind in its tranquil surroundings.
*If you are interested in renting both the Cottage and Cabin (accommodates 6 guests total and enjoying all of the property to yourselves), please message me for availability. It’s best to plan and request this early in the year.*
Guest access
You have full access of the front yard. The beach, kayaks and equipment are shared with 2 other guests who may be staying in our second studio cabin as of 2021.
Other things to note
This cottage was built in the 1950's, over the years and continuing annually, my Husband and I update and renovate what we can, but the vintage feel is still shown in its bones.
