The property was very clean & comfortable and had everything you could need. The location was so peaceful and had amazing views. Annette & Barry were very friendly & super hosts! We would definitely book again.
Actually not so little. Spacious, bright, beautifully clean and well thought out. Has everything you could need and really peaceful. The owners are lovely and so welcoming. Cannot recommend highly enough.
We've just come back from a wonderful week in Devon. Owl Lodge is just fantastic and equipt with everything you need. It has comfy beds, excellent showers and baths and the surroundings are just stunning. There was lots for the children to do and Annette and Barry are just lovely hosts. We all had the most enjoyable time and the sun shone on us!
Beautifully clean, comfortable, well equipped home, situated in a quiet location. We could hear the owls calling at in the evening. Welcoming, delightful hosts, who thoughtfully provided wine, chocolate and homemade jam and cake amongst other goodies awaiting us when we entered. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.
This is the second time we’ve stayed at this cottage. Everything is so clean. You don't feel the need to clean before you unpack as I have in some other cottages. Annette and Barry are a lovely couple and perfect hosts. If you visit the beach you will need to drive as it’s quite a walk but be prepared for the £10 a day parking ticket. South Milton is a lovely exploring beach too, ideal for kids. Would 100 % recommend this cottage and we will miss being there.

Excellent, very comfortable accommodation
Excellent and very well maintained property, beautifully finished throughout. Barry and Annette were very welcoming with delicious scones with clotted cream, jam and a bottle of wine on our arrival, and were very helpful with knowledge about the local area. This is an excellent base to explore South Devon with a lovely beach just a mile away and stunning views across the estuary. Kingsbridge is just a short drive away which has all amenities and is a great place to go crabbing with the children of an evening. A big thank you to Barry and Annette , we had a great week and would definitely recommend this property.
We had an amazing vacation in Devon, thanks to our stay at Annette and Barry's beautiful lodge in Kingswear. They were excellent hosts and welcomed us warmly. Their lovely house was equipped with all the necessities we needed, making our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The location was incredibly convenient, allowing us to explore the nearby attractions easily.
One of the highlights of our stay was the huge garden behind the lodge. Our daughters had a fantastic time playing there and making the most of the beautiful surroundings.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience, and we would definitely recommend this lodge to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation in Devon.

Wonderful hosts, wonderful Lodge, wonderful Devon
We absolutely loved are recent stay at Barn Owl Lodge. Annette and Barry (and Mylo the dog) are the perfect hosts, not intrusive but always on hand if you need any info etc. We received a very warm welcome, and the fresh homemade cream teas, wine, and Annette's homemade Sloe Gin were all much appreciated. The lodge is in a great location, a short walk to Bantham Beach (and the Sloop Inn, nice food, would also recommend the Winking Prawn in North Sands), and with many amazing coastal walks all close by. The walk from East Soar along the coast to the NT Overbeck's was a favourite, especially for the Walker Hut honesty cafe on route. The beaches at Milton Sands and Wembury (great rock pools) were also very good. A week just wasn't enough to explore everything, we will definitely be back soon.
The lodge was absolutely spotless upon arrival and we were treated to some homemade goodies by Annette.
I was surprised that the lodge is much bigger than it seemed on the photos. Very cosy and tasteful rooms!
The beds were all extremely comfortable and I am very fussy! I loved the fact that both bedrooms had their own on-suite so the children had their own bathroom. Fantastic.
Another highlight was the lovely big and light kitchen. I really enjoyed making some meals in it, which I hadn’t planned on doing! Although we were rather unlucky with the weather I would still like to mention the lovely big garden, the playing field round the back of the stables with swings and a football goal and the pond down at the bottom of the field.
Location was fab. 5 mins car ride to Bantham beach which is just stunning.
Lots of attractions for families within a 20-40 min car ride. We stayed two weeks and didn’t run out of things to do. We could have easily filled another week. Lots of great pubs/restaurants, if you are a fan of seafood you are really spoilt for choice. We actually are not, and still had plenty of options. Our personal favourites were Church House Inn and California Inn. Both reachable by car in 10-15 minutes.
An absolute highlight was the fact that we were able to charge our electric car at the lodge. This is one example of the way Annette and Barry go above and beyond for their guests. Possibly the best family holiday we have had!
Thank you Annette and Barry!
We spend two fantastic weeks in the holiday cottage of Tongue Farm near Bantham Beach. The cottage has ample space, a veranda for enjoying the afternoon sun and a secluded terrace for morning breakfast. It contains everything you need and is yet very spacious. The quality of the beds is good and the interiour is in perfect order (and also very clean). Annette and Barry were very welcoming, but also fully respected our privacy. In the evening you can spot rabbits in the yard (there is even a sign for them). The quiet and rural environment is very relaxing. Bantham Beach is less than an hour walking and you can take the summer ferry to Bigbury-on-Sea, even visiting Burgh Island if you want. The landscape is beautiful and there is much to see in the environment. For example, Overbeck's Gardens at Saltram, Greenway House, Totnes Castle or Dartmouth Harbour. Tesco and Morrison's in nearby Kingsbridge provide all the groceries you need. In one word: perfect !
We loved our stay in Annette and Barry’s beautifully equipped lodge. They live next door and welcomed us on arrival to show us round. The kitchen is excellent as are the living area and the bedrooms.
We enjoyed the eggs from their hens as well as home made soaps and jam.
There is plenty of fenced in outdoor space with views across the fields and with tables for outdoor eating, weather allowing.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet and glorious starry skies at night. Only a mile or so away is Bantham with its surf beach and walks along the Avon Estuary, as well as the SW Coast Path, which link to footpaths nearer the lodge.
Highly recommended.
This property is gorgeous and hosts Annette and Barry are so gracious. The lodge is immaculate and stocked with everything you need for self catering. The location was perfect for exploring Devon and Cornwall. We really appreciated the welcoming gifts of fresh farm eggs and Annette's home made goodies.
We had lovely time staying here, Annette and Barry are a lovely couple who made us feel very welcome. The Lodge is very clean and well equipped with everything you might need. We even had some lovely fresh eggs, Annette’s home made slow gin and sweets for the kids waiting for us upon arrival. They were also kind enough to lend us some crabbing equipment so we could take the kids crabbing. Beautiful surroundings, plenty of things to do with the family and good value for money. What more can you ask for!
A great location and fantastic, comfortable and well-equipped property
This lovely property was ideal for a family of four including 2 teenage boys. It was spacious, clean and had everything you could possibly need - the kind owners had thought of everything: windbreak and parasol for the beach; eggs, tea, coffee, milk, etc for arrival; ice cubes in the freezer ready for the sweltering weather and much, much more.
The location was great for going to Bantham Beach, although the narrow lane is not for the faint-hearted. The outside area was peaceful and relaxing overlooking the countryside and with chairs, parasol and BBQ ideal for sitting out in the shade after a hot day on the beach. The owners were very helpful and friendly. A very enjoyable stay!
Annette and Barry are the perfect hosts and the lodge is ideally situated for our favourite beach at Bantham, as well as a short drive to local pubs and amenities. There is everything you could need in the lodge, including a beach umbrella and wind break! The little touches, like fresh eggs from their hens, made all the difference. We would love to stay again - next time for longer than the four nights we had this time. Thank you for everything.
The house was very nice, clean and neat. The garden was very nice and the surroundings are great (we got used to the narrow road leading to the house ;-). ) Annette and Barry was very frieldly and helpful! We had a great vacation!
Beautiful, careful detail to furnishings, lovely hosts, area gives easy access to local beaches etc. facilities in cabin of a very high standard, we would definitely recommend
Annette and Barry’s cottage is a wonderful place to relax. With wonderful birdsong, horses in the field and rabbits hopping around, the outside patio is a great place to sit and chat and barbecue before retreating into the large open plan lounge/diner/kitchen. It’s very well equipped and comfortable and immaculately clean. Just 5 minutes from a great beach what more might one need. Returning next year for the third time. Can’t wait.
We loved the cottage , it was very clean and very well equipped .
The hosts are lovely people . They were very welcoming , and we really enjoyed their company . We will definitely return to this lovely cottage , in it’s beautiful surroundings
We can confirm that the previous comments are absolutely spot on - the lodge is fitted out to a very high standard and was spotlessly clean. Everything you could wish for is provided and the welcome gifts were very much appreciated. Barry and Annette are amazing hosts and really looked after us without being intrusive. The setting is very quiet and perfect for a peaceful break and Kingsbridge is only a 4 mile drive for shops and 2 large supermarkets. As the kitchen is so lovely, we cooked most nights but would recommend The Sloop Inn in the village where we had a lovely meal with great service.
We highly recommend Barn Owl Lodge and will definitely be back.
The accommodation was spotless & the facilities were fantastic. Great place to explore from .
Lovely accommodation . The place was a real home from home with all the facilities that are needed for great staycation . The walk to Hope Cove is fantastic too!
We had a lovely long weekend at Barn Owl Lodge. Everything, and more, you would hope for in a self catering property. Great location and lovely hosts. Will definitely return.
A first rate property, bedrooms are big with more than enough storage, the bathrooms are modern and easy to use.
The lounge/ diner is huge, the lounge setees are comfortable ,the kitchen has all the mod cons to create an easy holiday. The welcome pack set the tone of the holiday.
Annette and Barry were really lovely hosts. Very helpful and friendly.
The lodge was exactly as described, very clean and well equipped. Would definitely recommend to anyone that wants a peaceful and relaxing stay.
Lovely local walks that Barry and Annette recommended, a must visit is to Bantham beach which was stunning.
The extra touches i.e Annette's sloe gin was much appreciated.
Thanks for a wonderful stay, Roy and Karen
