"Large room, comfortable bed, good lighting. Evening buffet is excellent as is breakfast. Nice little outdoor pool. Hotel has a nice ambience. In places a little tired and dated, especially the bathroom. Was good value, and proximity to airport and free shuttle make it an excellent choice. "

"Closeness to gautrain which is 12 minutes and 3 stops to and from airport. Rosebank is also a train stop away. Sandton city is in walking distance. Don’t like that hotel entrance is not easily visible."

Only stayed one night ... needed place close to airport and this place exceeded expectations. Ate dinner and breakfast there and had drinks at the bar. Nice ambiance, decorations and landscaping. "

"Very happy with choice of hotel for first stay in johannnesburg. Food excellent. Pool was closed for one afternoon during our stay but staff arranged and took us to a neighbouring hotel to use their’s. Reinforced how good the pool area was in our hotel. Punctual shuttle to Sandton city. Hotel also on free shuttle stop for hop on/off bus "

"The Emerald is a beautiful, homey place and I enjoy stopping there on my frequent trips. It's affordable, and simple (no extra accessories), but I am good with that. Always very clean. They are very convenient coming from the airport on the hourly shuttle service. Being a single lady traveling alone, I would appreciate it if the door were a little stronger (no loose door knob, a sturdier lock, etc.) just for securit's sake, but otherwise I am happy with the property and services. Thank you Emerald!"
