"Very central property, very convenient for visiting the city. Not quite the 5* we expected but was ok for one night. Our room was down under ground level with an interesting view over gutter pipes and it was quite noisy - both from inside and outside the hotel. We only booked one night, it is unlikely we would have stayed longer than this."

Hotels.com advertise a free breakfast but they don’t do this anymore. Not an issue for us but could probably be updated. Slight noise from other rooms and the street but the hotel provide earplugs and the windows have an extra screen to try and keep noise out. "The Lodge was very convenient to where we wanted to be. The reception staff was really pleasant and helpful. The room was a pleasant surprise. A good size with ensuite and with a wonderful kingsize bed (which was really comfortable) and a quite stunning view of the cricket ground. We both had a really good night's sleep . "We stayed for 3 nights for a Christmas shopping trip, the hotel is in a perfect location very close to York Minster and with lovely bars and restaurants on the doorstep. We were met with a very warm welcome, our room was small but had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. I would highly recommend this lovely boutique Guest House"
