"The hotel is in a great location. Excellent breakfast options - try the sarawak laksa. Staff are very helpful and the concierge was able to find tours for a solo traveller without having to pay for 2 people. I stayed in one of the older, cheaper rooms and the bathrooms are in need of renovation however it was still clean and everything worked well. "

"Small modern hotel in interesting part of city. Walking distance to many attractions, shops, restaurants. Helpful friendly staff at reception and breakfast especially. Breakfast here was good. Good shower, good wifi, comfortable room."

"Our room was not available for unclear reasons upon arrival. Sketchy and passive aggressive management. A cash damage deposit was required at check in without prior notice. A paper receipt omitted the deposit amount. A 48 hour wait for confirmation of a change was responded to only after Expedia intervention. Caveat emptor!"

"This was our second stay at the Marion. It's like spending the night at the museum. You can read the history of the original owner if you spend a few minutes at the waterfront Chinese Heritage Museum. The hotel is very close to bars and restaurants on Carpenter St. that can be noisy on occasion. We have stayed in the Chapel wing both stays and we're not bothered by street noise. "There is no telephone in the room need qr code or watsapp to contact room service and reception. Very incovenient for the less tech savy guests. TV has no reception. Need to use the internet to watch.... "

"Deluxe room that we stayed in on 13 floor was spacious enough for 2 people and had nice river views of Kuching, also walk in shower But the wifi was non existent ( who wants to sit in the foyer to get a signal!!!) "

"They don’t know how to clean when I entered the room the bed line was so dirty me the bathroom all wet also is was a razor as someone use just before we enter. I don’t recommend this hotel at all. There are others with better conditions at the same price. It’s a DON’T"

"First off, it would appear that the owner of the apartment matters…as our apartment was lacking greatly in many areas, while other family members stayed in a tremendously better apartment in the same complex. Our apartment in fact, despite being booked months in advance, wasn’t even ready…so we stayed in a temporary setting until the one we booked was ready. "Positives 1.Extremely comfortable beds, we slept so well. 2.The water pressure in the shower was super strong. Wonderful shower. 3. Location is perfect. 4. Lovely patio area overlooking the library. 5. Wonderful service from reception. Negatives- breakfast I was so surprised how poor the breakfast was and this is something that could be remedied easily. The coffee was too weak (almost transparent). First morning i ordered the eggs and almost cried when i saw the quantity of food on the plate. That piece of garlic bread is insignificant and doesnt even taste good. Why not invest in sourdough bread and serve a thick slice with the eggs and maybe a sausage. Even the fruit in the buffet area looked a bit pathetic. Please upgrade your breakfast to match the quality of the rest of the hotel. "
