“Wrap-around waterfront” describes the special feature of this unique cottage perfectly. With water on three sides, spectacular views across the lake and a delightful and sensitively renovated cottage to accommodate your family, this is a great choice for your cottage vacation.
Situated at the end of a long spit that stretches over a kilometer into Dalrymple Lake, Kozy Korner offers a private paradise with north, east and south views over the lake. Take your choice of spots to sunbathe and relax – on a hot day maybe the North West shore with a little breeze is your choice or perhaps catching some sun on the sheltered South-East side will suit you better. Then enjoy the outdoor shower – a great cottage experience. These should be the only challenging choices you have to make during your vacation at Kozy Korner.
The shoreline has a shallow entry with a sand pebble mix suitable for the whole family. At the point of the property a sandbar stretches out further into the lake that allows you to wade out to the ‘frog rock’ – a natural feature kids will enjoy jumping from, into deeper water. With a reputation for excellent competition fishing both the north and south parts of the lake hold a wide variety of popular species. Whether you bring your own motor boat to tie up to the dock, rent one from the local marina or simple head out, ‘motor-less’, in the rowboat or canoe provided, you will be sure to get ‘one on’.
The unique nature of the property extends to the interior. From the original 19th century fishing hut, the property has been expanded over more than 100 years, and lovingly renovated by its current owners to the comfortable and attractive accommodation now presented to guests. The open plan kitchen (with island), living room and dining room benefit from the views of the water from every window, and the layout lends itself to convivial get-togethers as friends and family enjoy cooking and preparing cottage feasts. Imagine enjoying a meal in a dining room so close to the shore it feels as though you are sitting right over the water.
The door from the living area to the hallway leading to the bedrooms, offers more privacy than most cottages. The master bedroom has a comfortable queen bed, electric fireplace and sitting area. With the shoreline only a few feet away, you can just imagine the quiet lapping of waves at the shore as a gentle breeze drifts though an open window carrying the sound of the crickets and a distant loon. The romance of it all will deliver magical memories that you will remember long after you have left.
The other two bedrooms are also comfortable, one with a queen and the other with a double and single bunk. Perfect for the other members of your group or maybe left empty if you are planning to get away for a romantic weekend alone with your special someone.
The history of this cottage is evident wherever you look with unique roof lines and angles, as rooms have been raised and additions made yet retaining the original structure. Check the photo wall in the dining area that shows Kosy Korner as it was in years gone by. For those sport history buffs the property was originally owned by Charlie Querrie (GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs 1917-1918 and again in 1921-22).
We can’t say enough how special this property is and we are sure you will think so too.
