"Really nice and clean room but everything else where terrible, dirty and very old. The staff was laying in the few chairs and there were no place else to sit, not even in the small garden. We wantet a quiet vaccation but it was noicy from the mainstreet in front. We decided to leave again after 2 nights even we already paid for more."

"Possibly the smallest room Ive ever stayed in. Bed was comfortable. Furniture was old and in poor shape, stained lampshade on the tiny desk. Glass door to bathroom so all light flooded thru there. Curtains did not meet in the middle in the bedroom. Bathroom was designed as a wet room, no shower curtain, awkward tiny 1cm "step" between toilet and shower. Kept falling over it. Windows and glass shelf in bathroom were very dirty. Tiled floor in bathroom very slippery when wet no mat provided....

"The place on the whole was very nice, the room was clean and tidy. The bathroom was OK, but had signs of wear and tear eg chipped tiles. This didn't bother us, but some people may be put off by this. The manager and staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast was brilliant with lots of choices. The kitchen is available to make your own drinks at no charge. All in all a nice place to stay."

"Gorgeously situated in a beautiful ex-colonial mansion, serving excellent food. Staff are efficient and friendly. The regular rooms are evocative and very comfortable, with choice of fan and air conditioning. "We had a wonderful stay at Villa Golden, stayed the whole of in February 2025, hence returning next year (2026). Susantha (House Manager) is a credit to the business, welcoming, professional, very helpful and great with the arrangement of tours and travelling. The staff team were very friendly making us always feel at home. Their attention to detail was very good, attentive but not intrusive. The breakfast and all meals cooked for us were very good and we very much enjoyed the cookery session....

"We absolutely loved our stay here. We stayed in the Pool Suite which was very comfortable. All the staff were very polite and friendly and always had a smile on their face. It is a very relaxed hotel and you just feel at ease as soon as you arrive. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. We would love to come back here one day! Thank you for a lovely stay."

Amazing stay, highly recommend!

"I've just returned from a two night stay at the Bartizan and it was nothing short of splendid! The only downside was that stay was too short. My room was stunning and incredibly spacious. It had a very comfortable bed, cold AC, a beautiful balcony with dining table and comfortable chairs to sit and watch the sea. Breakfast could be delivered to the room or you could dine in the private courtyard downstairs. You choose daily from several options/styles. The two I tried were both delicious and quite a big meal. The hotel has been beautifully renovated and the staff were exceedingly kind, friendly and accommodating. They really went out of their way to help me have a wonderful stay and really contributed to my experience visiting Southern Sri Lanka. It is a boutique hotel, privately owned and in a historic building, so if this isn't your thing and you are looking for something more bland and more like a big standardized US chain then this might not be for you, but if you are drawn to Galle because of the history, the beauty of the architecture and the sea then I highly recommend. "
