Jakarta, officially the Special Capital Region of Jakarta, is the capital and most populous city of Indonesia. Located on the northwest coast of the world's most populous island of Java, the city is the center of economics, culture and politics of Indonesia, with a population of 10,075,310 Greater Jakarta metropolitan area, which is known as Jabodetabek (a name formed by combining the initial syllables of Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang and Bekasi), is the second largest urban agglomeration in the world, with population of 30,214,303 inhabitants as of 2010 census.[9] Jakarta's business opportunities, as well as its potential to offer a higher standard of living, attract migrants from all over Indonesian archipelago, making the city a melting pot of many communities and cultures.
Jakarta is nicknamed the Big Durian, the thorny strongly-odored fruit native to the region, as the city is seen as the Indonesian equivalent of the US city of New York (the Big Apple). In the colonial era, the city was also known as Koningin van het Oosten (Queen of the Orient), initially in the 17th century for the urban beauty of downtown Batavia's canals, mansions and ordered city layout. After expanding to the south in the 19th century, this nickname came to be more associated with the suburbs (e.g. Menteng and the area around Merdeka Square), with their wide lanes, many green spaces and villas.

"The breakfast buffet is superb with a wide range of cuisines. I especially like the juice bar as it offers nutritional and freshly made juice, such as ginger and mixed veggies ones. The staff here is very polite and friendly. They always welcome us with a warm smile. Those who work near the pool are also nice. Swimming here is amazing, as you will feel like you are in a forest. For city dwellers like me, I’d suggest staying in this hotel as it’s not as cosmopolitan and busy. The trees give me a sense of comfort and calm my mood. If there were more restaurants nearby, that would be perfect. I’d have to order room service for two nights. "
