"I had some initial confusion about the address of the hotel. It was not listed on hotels.com and appeared as Lanshan Wangyue Homestay on Google maps. After communicating with staff via WeChat, the address was clarified for our DiDi driver. Despite this, our stay far exceeded expectations. The location sits among beautiful green mountains which you get to view through a wall to wall window from your room. The hotel is privately owned which I think is quite rare in China and has a boutique feel. Owner Mark Ma personally welcomes you and shows you to your room. The details to things like silk robes, choice teas, self flushing bidet, embroidered thick quality white towels made a big impact. My two boys loved asking “xiao du, xiao du” which is the Chinese version of Alexa to open and close the curtains. We watched Skyfall projected on a big screen from our comfy beds. At sunset, the views from the rooftop were amazing. There’s a rooftop pool, props like a moon, infinity mirror and stairway to heaven to get some Instagram worthy photos. The view by itself though was sublime. The hotel is far enough from the road but close enough to downtown to be peaceful and conveniently located. We enjoyed a varied breakfast. I liked the squash, sweet potato and teas. Boys enjoyed the fried meats, noodles and fried rice. I highly recommend this place. Can’t say enough. Staff was super friendly and welcoming. It really felt like a little paradise!"

"The hotel is 5 stars from decor to service. It is perfect for someone to get away from the city or busy life to enjoy the quietness of the small town. It’s about 30 minutes from the city center of Yangshuo. Not the most convenient location if you are looking for night life and foods variety. "

"We really enjoyed our stay at Yangshuo Village Inn. The staff were super friendly and helpful and they took the time to give us helpful tips about things to do and to chat with my wife’s parents. It felt kind of like staying with friends. The hotel is in a great location for a lot of activities like bamboo river rafting, Ru’Yi Peak, caves, river walk etc. You can rent a bike or a moped in town, which will allow you to access a lot of activities easily. The hotel provides a helpful guidebook and it was really useful for finding things to do. Someone put a lot of thought into the hotel and the garden, which is all lit up at night and is a really nice place to sit and chill out. The restaurant on the property is also good and has both Chinese food and an extensive Western menu if your kids are picky. This place is great. Highly recommended!"

"Yangshuo City has become a big tourist hub (mainly Chinese tourists). The Yangshuo Mountain Retreat is a short taxi (electric scooter ride) to Yangshuo and the surrounding attractions, but sits on a quiet bend of the picturesque Yulong river (almost rivals the Li River Karst tower area in beauty and is a lot less busy). During the day a number of the bamboo rafts with one of two folks floating down the river go by. A night their grass riverfront restaurant is bucolic. The staff speak good English and seem especially understanding of Western tourists. I would definitely stay here again."
