The area
The obelisk hotel is located in Sultanahmet, where many of the historical attractions in Istanbul are - because of this, the prices in the area are a little higher. The eateries around Obelisk are the same, but they also have terrace seating with views of the Old City, which in itself is very nice. One thing to note is due to their proximity to tourist areas, some discretion should be exercised when shopping/dining in the area around the hotel.
The hotel stay
We were upgraded to the unit on the top floor, which has an adjoined terrace on the fourth floor. This gave us a nice view and a very cool space to enjoy dinner and some tea while soaking in the surroundings. The room was clean, spacious and well-maintained.
Yunus at the reception wasvery helpful and gave us good food recommendations, and gave us useful suggestions of places to visit. The hotel helped us arrange a transfer to and from the airport for our stay before we arrived, which helped us avoid the hassle of securing transportation at the airport.
Breakfast was included during our stay, and traditional Turkish fare was offered for breakfast. This was alright, but we did not check any options outside of the hotel, given what we mentioned about the area being slightly pricier.
