Discover our very special 2 bedroom holiday Cottage for 1-5 persons in South East Crete, in a very peaceful mountain village Agios Ioannis, on about a 15 minutes drive from the beach!

Comfort in a lovely restored Cretan house, enjoy the view over the mountains all the way to the sea from your bedroom and roof terrace.

Lay-out ground floor: tiled enclosed (fenced) garden with garden furniture, entrance to fully equipped kitchen with cooker, washing machine, dishwasher; living room with sofa, armchair, tv (for dvd only) and fireplace; double bedroom with double bed and small single bed, also a separate door to the garden.

1st floor: bathroom with toilet and bath and sink, double bedroom with entrance to large roof terrace, clothes dryer.

There is a small café-restaurant in the village and an excellent music bar called 5ifty 5ive.

The village itself was largely abandoned in the 1970's, in recent years a number of houses have been restored as second homes.

Cosy, well equipped and fully functional secluded Cretan cottage
The 2 bedroom house was ideal for our off-season village base from which to explore south and west Crete by foot and car. The local people are very friendly, as were the cats and dogs which liked to greet us when parking the car! It was nice to have a bath (unusual in Crete) and the washing machine and dishwasher were good labour-saving devices. We did not need the tumble drier because there was enough sun every day to dry damp clothes and towels. The weather was warmer than expected and we had a number of days at the beach. It was good to have a choice of terrace areas to use at the house, with a range of furniture available. We used the log fire on a few cool evenings, which readily heated the house. The owners have proved very considerate and we shall certainly consider returning to this property for a subsequent stay.

Pretty village retreat
We loved staying at the villa Coupe in the mountain village of Agios Ioannis. The views are spectacular and the small villa is comfortable and well equipped. The air conditioning unit in the upper bedroom was a bonus and led to good nights' sleep and having a dishwasher was also a real help. The house itself has been renovated tastefully, and has a lovely character - well shown in the photos so we were not disappointed: the description is very accurate. The downstairs terrace is a real haven with olive, fig, almond, cactus, vines and a delicious smelling jasmine - we really enjoyed having our lunch there after a morning on the beach. Walking in the mountains, easily accessed from the village, in the cooler evenings was a highlight, meeting only goats and sheep and their shepherd provided a good contrast to the busier coastline. The breathtaking views, the smell of wild herbs and the sound of goat bells were magical. We can recommend the local village taverna where we were served rabbit stew and further afield, the River restaurant in Agia Fotia was particularly good - a family taverna surrounded by roses and fruits with much of the food sourced from the family's own plot. The complementary walnut cake and raki at the end of the meal were delicious. We had a memorable holiday and can highly recommend the villa.

Das Dorf ist halb verfallen aber das Haus ist liebevoll hergerichtet, mit allem Notwendigen ausgestattet und eine gute Basis für Touren in die Berge. Abends kann man gemütlich am brennenden Kamin sitzen oder von der Terrasse aufs Meer schauen, wenn man nicht grade bei Dimitri oder Niko zum Abendessen ist. Strom und Wasser werden erfreulicherweise getrennt abgerechnet. Wir haben uns dort sehr wohl gefühlt.

ABSOLUT EMPFEHLENSWERT! Vielen Dank Simon & Bettina Coupe und natürlich Sofia
Das Haus ist sauber und absolut komfortabel. Die verschwitzte Wäsche ist schnell gewaschen, dank Waschmaschine/Trockner, ein riesiger Kühlschrank kühlt Feta, Ouzo und Co., sehr viele Handtücher und Bettzeug sorgen dafür, dass der Koffer leicht bei der Anreise bleiben kann und vollgepackt für die Abreise ;) In dem Haus ist an alles gedacht worden. Es ist genauso gemütlich, wie auf den Fotos abgebildet - auf der Terrasse hat man einen super Blick ins Tal! Die Lage ist schön, Das Dörfchen hat seinen eigenen Charme, das "fifty-five" sollte man UNBEDINGT besuchen. Der Kontakt zur Hausherrin und zu Sofia, mit der man gerne einen Abend hätte verbringen wollen lief ausgezeichnet. Wir wurden abgeholt, überall eingewiesen und sehr freundlich beraten. ABSOLUT EMPFEHLENSWERT!

sehr schönes liebevoll hergerichtetes Ferienhaus in fast verlassenem Bergdorf
Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit dem Ferienhaus, sehr schön hergerichtet und schöne Blicke ins Tal möglich. Leider war es sehr kalt während unseres Aufenthalts und wir konnten die Terasse kaum nutzen. Zum Glück gibt es einen Kamin, den wir ausgiebig nutzten.

Sehr schönes, im Bergdorf gelegenes traditionelles Haus. Hervorragende Aussicht auf das Meer und die Berge. Mit vielen Details liebevoll restauriert. Gemütliche Einrichtung. Unkompliziertes Einchecken. Sehr gute Betreuung durch Sofia. Wir haben uns sehr wohl gefühlt.

Eine beschönigende Beschreibung - Haus nicht bewohnt
Das Haus befindet sich in einem abgelegenen Bergdorf, nur mühsam zu erreichen. Es ist umgeben von zerfallenen Häusern, Ruinen. Wir konnten es uns nicht vorstellen, dort unserem Urlaub zu verbringen. Ein Geschäft mit Lebensmitteln ist in dem Ort nicht vorhanden. Das einzige Restaurant war am Anreisetag geschlossen.

Goed toeven in een schilderachtig dorpje in zuid-oost Kreta
Het is een robuust, Kretenzisch huis met meerdere terrassen. Prachtig uitzicht vanaf boventerras. Alle apparatuur aanwezig en werkend. Geen grote luxe, maar voor wie er voor kiest is het heerlijk toeven.

Ein Kleiod in den Bergen mit Meerblick
Wir haben genau das vorgefunden was wir gesucht hatten und was die Anzeige angekündigt hat. Ruhe, keine Touristenströme, kein anstehen am Buffet. Absolute Toplage in ca. 500 m Höhe mit einem fantastischen Weitblick auf Meer und Berge. Das kleine Dorf ist weitestgehend verlassen und es gibt fast nur noch kretisch ausgebaute Ferienhäuser neben verfallenden Häusern. Uns hat auch nicht gestört jeden Tag ca. 15 Minuten runter zur Hauptstraße zu fahren. Strände, Tavernen und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten alles in 15-20 Minuten. Man braucht aber unbedingt ein Auto um die wunderbare Region und Insel zu erkunden. Die Temperaturen waren jetzt im September noch um die 28-30 Grad. Oben im Haus 4-5 Grad kühler was natürlich auch zum schlafen positiv war. Wir brauchten keine Klimaanlage, welche aber vorhanden ist. Das Haus hat alles was man im Haushalt so braucht. Wir konnten unsere Wäsche waschen und brauchten deshalb auch nicht soviel mitzunehmen. Abends wird es oben natürlich zu dieser Jahreszeit etwas kühler und windiger, deshalb auch eine warme Jacke für die tolle Terrasse mitnehmen. Sofia, unser Ansprechparten vor Ort, war, wenn nötig, bereit Tipps und Anregungen zu geben. Danke dafür !! 2 Schlafzimmer, mit je einem Doppelbett, waren natürlich sehr angenehm, wenn man mit zwei Kindern fährt oder einen Schnarcher in der Familie hat. Wir waren zu zweit da. Im Dorf oben gibt es ein fantastisch eingerichtetes Restaurant 55 mit toller Küche und ca. 50 Biersorten (natürlich auch Wein) und Livemusik am Wochenende. Wir waren sehr gerne dort, der Wirt spricht perfekt deutsch. Wir sind seit gestern Abend wieder zurück in Berlin und müssen ganz klar sagen...wir waren sehr zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt in Agios Ioannis und können das Ferienhaus sehr empfehlen.
