"This lovely quaint Guest House was ideal for us on New Year's Eve as we were invited to a Masquerade Ball held at The Queens Hotel which was only a 6 minute walk away from the Guest House. We were initially thinking of going by taxi but trying to get a taxi on New Year's Eve is a nightmare and there's no guarantee anyway that they would actually turn up. Also, the taxi was working out about the same price as a one night stay here! Hence, it was a no-brainer. The property has excellent free...

"Well heating in my room did not work. The room was a bit chilly late at night. And the water was not hot enough. It would be nice to have a few more plugs in the room for charger and laptop. I only saw 2 one for the light and 1 for the kettle"

"The room was in need of some love as far as decoration goes. The main lampshade was a large 'white' feather arrangement which looked filthy, had cobweb coming off it.The bed was fairly comfortable & bedding was clean. The bathroom was fairly clean although the area between the shower & basin looked dirty. The TV didn't have reception. Unable to rate staff as we saw no-one, entering & leaving via key safe."

"A really lovely little place to stay. The room was spacious and the bed super comfortable. Having kitchen facilities to use is a bonus although we didn’t use them. The shower wasn’t great (rain head only) and I really struggled to work it. It would also be great to have a mirror in the bedroom area for getting ready as the only mirror was in the bathroom. "

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. It was spotlessly clean, furnished beautifully, everything was there that you could possibly need. There were very special touches in place that made you feel welcome. Fresh milk and orange juice, cereals, an excellent selection of teas and coffee. The bed was comfortable and the whole place was warm and cosy. Trish was so helpful and came to my rescue with a blister plaster. "The apartment was clean and exactly what we was looking for as it was just a base for us to sleep and shower. The staff are friendly, unfortunately parking is not free and is quite expensive and they say there is parking in the area, unfortunately southsea/Portsmouth is on the ball with parking and is mostly only available for locals with a parking permits. If you like pubs,bars and restaurants you are in the right area as there are loads around. Yes i would stay there again."

"Esme's was a wonderful place to spend a few days in Winchester, a short walk from the centre of town, the historic sights and beautiful surrounds. The bonus is Esme who was warm and welcoming and really made the stay special. Highly recommended. "

Holiday Inn Express Portsmouth - Gunwharf Quays, an IHG Hotel

5/5 Excellent

"Overall we had an excellent stay, fantastic location centra to outlet, dock yards, restaurants, Spinnaker tower and the ferry to IOW. On the first night we when we got to the room we noticed some dry paint shavings that had fallen from the ceiling to the floor, staff were happy to love us to another room and apologised. Wayne in particular was extremely helpful and friendly as were the other front of house and manager. Car parking was in gunwharf quays. For breakfast you’re allowed to take away food in brown bags or while paper boxes which was helpful. The rooms are standard with a clean kettle and bed but we loved our stay. Would recommend. "
