Escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and make our 4 bedroom, 2-bath cottage your home away from home in any season. Located on the shores of picturesque, tranquil Lake Kamaniskeg in the municipality of Hastings Highlands in the Madawaska Valley, our comfortable, family-oriented cottage is close to the town of Barry’s Bay, 3.5 hours from Toronto, 2 from Ottawa.

The property enjoys beautiful sunrises and views over the lake and is surrounded by forest. Lake Kamaniskeg has 90 km of natural beauty and is perfect for summer boating, swimming, fishing (lake trout, pickerel, small mouth bass and northern pike), kayaking, paddle boarding, canoeing and other water sports. Nature enthusiasts can enjoy walking, birdwatching or hiking to breathtaking lookouts and nearby, there are mountain biking, cross country skiing and OHSC snowmobiling trails.
In winter, enjoy moonlit walks on the frozen lake with the smell of wood smoke in the air and a canopy of stars glittering overhead. Go ice fishing or create a rink on the lake for family skating or hockey fun.

The Madawaska Kanu Centre (www.mkc.ca) is a 5 minute drive where you can whitewater kayak and canoe and public golfing is available at the 18 hole Homestead at Wolf Ridge (21 km) or Whitetail golf clubs (45 km). Algonquin Park’s East Gate is only 60 km where you can take a day trip and enjoy the Algonquin Logging Museum, several lakes from canoe access points or the Leaf Lake ski trail. You can also visit Wilno with its Polish Kashubian Heritage Museum and historic Wilno Tavern and Maynooth, Bancroft and Pembroke – with galleries, antique shops, eateries and more – are all less than an hour’s drive.

The cottage has an open plan kitchen with island, dining and living area with a fieldstone wood-burning fireplace and a 42 inch satellite television on the main level plus a large walkout deck overlooking the lake. Each floor has a full bathroom with shower. There are 4 spacious bedrooms accommodating 8 people: 2 queens, 1 king and 1 bunk bed. All have ceiling fans and two have TVs. Sheets, pillows and blankets are provided - bring your own personal/beach towels.

The fully equipped kitchen includes a convection stove, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, toaster, blender, slow cooker, Instant pot, roasting pan, dishes, pots and utensils, as well as baking dishes, hand mixer and spice rack. The kitchen/dining table seats 6 plus there are 3 seats at the kitchen island. Basic soaps and cleaning supplies are provided.

Outside on the wraparound deck, there is a BBQ, table and chairs for 6 and 4 Adirondack style patio chairs. There is also a picnic table near the deck and a lakeside fire pit for roasting marshmallows and star gazing. The lake has a flat gradual entry with a sandy bottom for easy access and safe, child friendly swimming.

Other amenities: ample parking, firewood, baseboard heating, internet, Wi-Fi, hair dryer, washer/dryer, iron and board, cable televisions(3), puzzles and board games, life jackets, canoe (1), kayaks (2), water toys, lakeside lounge furniture and space for one boat at the dock – there are boat launches in Barry’s Bay and Combermere and at Hinterland Beach which also has a beautiful, sandy public beach.

Both offer fruits, vegetables, meat, crafts, flowers, baked goods and homemade take home food. Beautiful get-away
This all season cottage is just what we expected. Our family get-together was enjoyed by everyone. The cottage was more like a home with beautiful bedrooms, ample space, an open kitchen, dining, and living room, all in excellent condition with quality furnishings. Our time there was a real pleasure. We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed the exceptional water views from the upper deck as well as the dock and fire pit near the water. The canoe, row boat and kayak were well used by all. Thank you Carol and David - we would recommend this escape for anyone wishing to relax in comfort.

Family Getaway Summer 2024
We stayed at this beautiful cottage the second week of July. We had a great welcome card with wine when arrived from Carol and David. As soon as we walked in it was very clean. The view from the deck down to the water was great. All the bedrooms were a great size and each had a ceiling fan. It did get fairly hot a few of the nights so we were grateful that we broughy additional fans with us. There is no air conditioning which is expected at a cottage, but just be aware that upstairs does get stuffy at times even with the windows open and fans blowing. The water was the best part. We loved the gradual entry with sandy bottom (weed free). The boat house by the water had a lot to choose from to pool noodles, blow up water trampoline and a tube for your boat should you bring one! Also included was 1 Canoe and 2 Kayaks. I will note that the Kayaks are fairly enclosed so not best for kids or inexperienced people in kayaks as they can be moore tippy. The only negative that was not noted was the bad cellphone reception. Our group had a variety of providers and all had horrible reception. I ended up having to call anyone using the Wifi through facebook and instagram. The Wifi is fast and the cable tv works great, just no cell service. Additionally, the washer and dryer are a great feature however you cannot wash much at a time, or else you will get a F20 error message. Overall, it was a wonderful stay!

Comfortable Cottage with Stunning Lakeview!
This beautiful, 4 bedroom cottage has everything to make your stay memorable. The kitchen is well stocked with condiments, kitchen tools and gadgets that make planning meals a breeze. The beds were comfortable, the living room spacious enough for my entire family and the Apple TV was a huge bonus on rainy days. The best part is the view of Lake Kamaniskeg and the benefits that come with being on the water. Swimming, kayaking, fishing; it’s all available for you to enjoy at any time of the day. I highly recommend this lovely rental. We will be return customers :)

Great cottage and stay!
Very nice cottage that is well maintained. We went with a group of 6 friends, (3 couples) felt we had more than enough space and comfort. Beautiful lake, great fire pit and set up, kayaks and canoe worked great enough life jackets paddles and equipment needed. Hosts were great at communicating and have a great information guide for any questions needed, made it easy. Was impressed and had a great time would recommend staying here I would again!
