Pleasantly Surprised
Stayed at the hotel for 2 nights whilst visiting Canton Fair. The hotel seems to have been very recently refurbished (I stayed there in Oct 2019) therefore it is very fresh, modern and comfortable. Rooms are spacious with a desk and a fair amount of space to walk around and were spotlessly clean - mine was a twin room. The room didn't have an iron or an ironing board which would have been handy. There is a "communal" laundry room downstairs which does have an iron if you are desparate, but everything is paid for via WeChat - no cash accepted, so bear that in mind. Staff could not have tried harder. There was an obvious language barrier, but they went out their way to use a translating app and provided better service than anything I could have expected - as I seemed to be the only Americano drinker in the hotel, the staff remembered me and when checking out they offered me one "for the road" which was very kind indeed. One drawback is the hotels location - it is in a residential area which is very pleasant to walk around but limited choice of shops/places to eat making it challenging. Also the nearest metro station (Datang) is about 3km away - meaning you will end up relaying on taxis most of the time. If you are visiting specifically for Canton Fair the hotel has organised a bus which leaves in the morning (8am) and returns at 6pm free of charge for residents which is convenient. The bus takes around 20mins to get to the exhibition centre.
