"I'm splitting this review into two, the hotel and the pub because the hotel is a separate building. THE HOTEL I loved the unique little touches at this hotel. The reception has complimentary fruit and refrigerated milk (I don't like UHT). You can also fill up on tea & coffee at reception (none of this only one tea bag per person per night malarkey). "The staff members were so amazingly helpful and friendly. As a solo traveler with a cane I struggle with stairs and excessive walking but the staff helped me to my room when I arrived and Katen even helped we all the way to the train platform across the way when I left. While this location is remote the charm and guality mke it a beautiful destination stay and the food was to die for. I had one minor issue in my room and they resolved it while I was out so 5/5"

"Downstairs great, restaurant, breakfast, bar, especially the service and welcime though. Uostaurs us tired, dribbly shower, radiators don't seem to work (there is an oil heater supplied), caroet a bit manky and old. Needs some investment to bring the place back. For the centre of Knutsford this was all quite a surprise... "

This amazing Victorian garden was created by James Bateman for his collection of plants from around the world. A visit takes you on a global journey from Italy to the pyramids of Egypt, a Victorian vision of China and a re-creation of a Himalayan glen.
The garden features collections of rhododendrons, summer bedding displays, a stunning Dahlia Walk in late summer and the oldest surviving golden larch in Britain, brought from China in the 1850s.
The Geological Gallery shows how Bateman's interests went beyond botany. Opened in 1862 the unique hallway is a Victorian attempt to reconcile geology and theology.

Mis advertised

"When we arrived at the lodge we were supposed to be staying in there was another family there who said the lodge they were supposed to be staying in was occupied so they were given this lodge. We rang the contact number and he apologised, we were provided the key code for another lodge and when i opened the door that was occupied as there was a dog in there. We finally got put in a lodge and went to look at the hot tub to find it was empty and covered in spiders. The lodge is advertised with pictures of a working hot tub. I was then told this was an additional £120 fee that needed to be arranged with them prior to arrival. This was not stated on hotels.com and we are extremely disappointed as we thought we had grabbed a bargin of a lodge with a hot tub and this was not the case."

Luxurious retreat escape

"Spacious and well equipped lodge in tranquil surroundings. Privacy was excellent especially for hot tub use. Robes provided which was ideal for hot tub. Kitchen fully equipped. Comfy sofa’s. WiFi and TV coverage was patchy but meant we were more inclined to Use our phones less which made for a proper relaxation. Would definitely stay there again. "

Great Spot in The Peak District

"The lodge was perfect for 2 couples and a great base for walking in the Peak District. The lodge its self was clean and cosy and had the bonus of the hot tub to sooth achy limbs! Check in was very simple and secure & communication with the manager was fantastic and very prompt. There is a great pub 15 mins walk from the lodge The Plough Inn, which server great food , I would recommend booking to eat there as it was very busy. I would definitely recommend for stay in the lodge for touring The Peak District ."

"Great location and great well Maintained apartment. Really well decorated and all the things you need to get by for a few days. My only small comment is getting in through three doors with a suitcase is tricky and a pain. But that’s it everything else was amazing"

Nice property for a family gathering

"The house was clean and contained everything needed for a lovely stay. It's set in a beautiful area looking over fields of sheep and horses. The hot tub works well. However, although the property is advertised as having 5 bathrooms, it should be noted that only 4 of the bedrooms are ensuite (and two of them share a Jack and Jill bathroom). There is one other bathroom but that is actually a toilet. There is also only one shower at the property, with the other two bathrooms having baths."
