"To be honest, we weren't sure what to expect. But after learning about the history of the city and what it has taken to come back is amazing! Having the experience of being able to stay in a "cave" was a something we will never forget. The property owners we very friendly and welcoming and we appreciate the work they have put into making it accessible to tourists. "

"I HIGHLY recommend this hotel and visiting Matera in general. The staff spoke great English, were onsite and were very friendly and personable. We were welcomed with a personal sign outside our door as well. It was walkable to everything you needed. The breakfast included was AMAZING (piano player in the background, sit down white table cloth, table service and plenty of food options). You could explore the hotel and all of the cisterns. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. If I could rate this 1000/10 I would. "

Best hotel stay for our entire 1 mth trip

"Mario has been helping us to navigate around the town and book transfer for us. He addresses us with our names and makes us feels like home in this old ancient city. We love our stay in Cenobio and the room is fantastic and clean. It's an experience to stay in a cave room"
