"We did not opt for the meal package so it’s possible we missed out on an amazing experience there but we did not miss out on the top level experience of the Kitanoya. Full Japanese ryokan room with the most luxurious 2 person open air granite ofuro I have ever seen let alone enjoyed with a delightful garden beyond. We chose this place to unwind from the crowds of Kyoto and we could not have made a better choice. Service was impecable. Can I give it a 6? The hotel matches the incomparable beauty and serenity of Amanohasidate. Arigato Hotel Kitanoya. "

"really good facility, close to the water front which i love and in between several areas of interest that you can walk to. The showers and baths were an added bonus as we didnt know that it would include the hot bath, really good to come back to that after a long day. Staff was super friendly and there was a music venue right next door, although we had other things we wanted to do so we weren't able to go. The only issue we had was the pillows are a lot stiffer than what we're used to so it was a little uncomfortable at first, other than that, it was a really pleasant experience. "

"I booked via expedia. My issues with this place are with EXPEDIA. Foreign Tourists please read: The listing did not clearly state that the room did not come with a bathroom OR that there was no shower in the building. Each floor has 1 male and 1 female washroom. The female washroom has 2 toilet stalls. There is no shower in the building. To bathe you must go next door and use the Amanohashidate Hotel's onsen. This onsen is amazing but it's inconvenient to have to go outside of your hotel to bathe. There is zero soundproofing in the room. You can hear and easily get disturbed by those opening their doors and walking/talking in the hallway. Each night I had to sleep using my noise cancelling headphones. There is no elevator. Be prepared to carry your luggage up and down the stairs. Access to Amanohashidate Hotel onsen was my favourite part of this trip. Overall the room and washroom were clean, and staff were kind, and they provided regular extra towels. But book only if your comfortable with the dorm/capsule style sharing of bathrooms and bring ear plugs"

"Goodness us…. PLEASE treat yourself and stay at least one night in this beautiful traditional hotel with its own onsen! We had a superbly decorated very very very large traditional room (tatamis), a view of the little port and the sea of Japan with sunset…. And we discovered once there that one could book their private onsen! Oh and yes, it’s ‘only’ a 100 years old family hotel…. Don’t forget to check their ‘souvenirs table’ of locally or Japan made goodies to take home. The friendliness and discretion of the front desk people is exemplary. This was part of the highlight of our holidays in Japan. Thank you so much for offering such a beautiful hotel to us visiting tourists. We wish you only the best for years to come! "
