I had a reservation and they suddenly decided to cancel it without notification. We showed up only to realize they canceled our reservation AND there was no room for us. Luckily I found us another place to stay but we almost had to sleep out on the streets.
This is a small family owned Ryokan. They're all so lovely! All staff are incredibly friendly, the rooms are spacious & gorgeous too. Great value for money. Would highly recommend.
Bottom Line: May not be the best choice for a first-time Japan traveller, but an excellent value for someone with Japanese experience looking for a ryokan (inn-style, not as luxurious as other ryokans I have stayed in).
Things to note:
- I could see Mount Fuji from my bedroom window. It's so nice to wake up to a view of Mount Fuji.
- It is located close to the Kawaguchicko Station (walkable).
- There is easy access to popular restaurants and convenience stores (walkable).
- The entrance to the ryokan was hard to find (there is an access road to the front of the ryokan that is not on Google Maps, although the location on Google Maps is correct).
- The hosts do not speak English.
- You are expected to know some basic Japanese ryokan etiquette (taking off shoes at front, using bathroom slippers, public bath, etc.).
- You make your own futon for sleeping (English instructions were provided).
- Bathroom and shower are Japanese-style and communal.
- Remote control for air conditioning is in Japanese.
Overall, I think this place is a great value and I would stay there again.
This property is located a short walk from the Kawaguchiko train station and bus stop. It is a small and quaint hotel, and it is family run. It feels like a bed and breakfast because the family is very caring. They even drove us back to the bus station because we had heavy bags.
Even though is further from the lake, it offers great views of Mt. Fuji right outside your bedroom window.
The service is was so friendly that I felt like I was part of the family. I will definitely stay here the next time I return to Kawaguchiko.
15minutes walk from Kawaguchiko station to ryokan. Eventhough they don’t speak English but they are trying to communicate with us and recommend us to have dinner at Japanese style restaurant nearby the ryokan.
The location is very near the train station and although the hosts do not speak English, the owner is used to use a translate app. It is not an actual onsen, but they have a pretty good and big bath tub. Japanese style room had all that was needed. For the price, couldn't ask for more.

The toilets are to be shared :-(. Smoking in the hallway and the smoke is entering the room during all night.
Premiere fois en ryokan et j’ai adoré. Les propriétaires sont adorable et toujours prêt à aider. Quant’au ryokan, il est d’une propreté impeccable. J’y retournerai volontier
Very nice Ryokan owned by a very nice and service minded family. They where not super with speaking English, but we managed everything with out any problems. I can strongly recommend this Ryokan.
