Istel is the founder of Felicity and the town’s longtime mayor, having been elected, almost 30 years ago, to an apparent lifetime term. The vote was unanimous: Istel voted for himself and so did Felicity’s other resident, Istel’s wife, Felicia. The town, established in 1986, consists of the Istels’ home and a half-dozen other buildings that the couple built on 2,600 acres in the middle of the desert near Yuma, Ariz., just off Interstate 8. At the north end, up an imposing staircase, sits the Church on the Hill at Felicity — inspired by a little white chapel in Brittany — that Istel built in 2007. The church is gorgeous and serene and looks eerily out of place, though less out of place than the 21-foot-tall stone-and-glass pyramid on the opposite end of town. The pyramid is there to mark the exact center of the world.

"Great place in Yuma....just remember your in Yuma AZ. Not a 5 star town. My suggestions to make this place better are tp holder on a stand, the wall holder is behind your back. Also we could not find a cutting board. Add some dim lights, all the lighting is very bright. Night time is enough to wake the dead."

"We have rented from VRBO in Yuma several years ago. The location of each property was great. We were informed by the owner that the clothes washer was broke. We did get a brand new washer a week later. We loved the weather and will go back to Yuma again. There were 3 adults in our house "

"We were visiting grandparents who have a park model in Yuma, so wanted a place where we could all visit and spread out. This was a great house for it! Lots of space, comfy beds, and the pool was perfect. There was a nice amount of outdoor furniture too. "

"We had a great stay. The ONLY downside for us was that this porperty was also through Vacasa, of who we ended up dealing with. We found Vacasa home office very difficult to honour our request of early check in. Several texts, explaining our situtaion of one of us in an electric wheelchair with quadriplegia, they still denied our request.Upon physical arrival we were given a name and number of the LOCAL Vacasa rep. Graciela was WONDERFUL to deal with. Quick replies, AND she honoured our request...

"The front desk staff are welcoming,professional,and helpful. The cleaning and kitchen staff work hard assuring the inn guest will have a secure and relaxing stay. The free breakfast is delicious with several types of food to choose from. I love the beautiful landscape,varied trees,and colorful flowers from tall bushes all around the pool and jacuzzi area. There are outdoor grills and tables if guests prefer to cook their own food in such a nice setting. I've stayed here several times and will not hesitate to stay again when I'm in Yuma. Highly reccommend!"
