"Lovely view. Offsite parking was inconvenient. Coffee at breakfast time was from a self serve machine. Some of the art and decorations were done very very cheaply. "

"This property is so beautiful and the food at the resturant was fantastic. Our only complaint was the spa, the sauna was great, but the hottub was lukewarm and there was so much chlorine it made our eyes burn and we had to get out almost immediately. Otherwise a perfect experience!"

"We had an amazing time here! Stefano is the absolute greatest at taking care of travel details- we arrived at 1am from our flight and there was a crib set up with cute little blankets and a pillow for our toddler. He texted us before we arrived through the What's App to help us check in virtually. He also recommended many amazing restaurants for us and placed a takeout order for us one night since our Italian is non bueno! This was also a fantastic stay for the price. Cannot recommend this place...

"Gabriele and his mamma where amazing hosts, very kind and attentive. The villa is just beautiful, in a very quiet site, standing since the 1700.. very clean and well maintained, lovely antic furniture and curious objects, absolutely stunning. Would love to go there again and definitely recommend!"

Casa Bacco - private house with a remarkable garden in the centre of Cortona

Dreaming of our return

"Our two adult children who were studying abroad met us here with our younger two children. We had two nights in a 12 day stay in Italy. Of all our stops, this was by far our favorite. The house was like a story book. The garden was so lovely, we spent an afternoon eating and sharing a bottle of wine. We were here in November and the weather was very mild compared to Chicago winters. Most of the stores and restaurants were open with far less people. We weren’t really here to see anything, we were only here to be. We rented a car and drove here from Venice. We easily parked in a free lot before we entered the town. The uphill hike was funny and an adventure for us. We did our laundry and I happily hung it from the lines out the window (no dryer). I would stay in this home if you are looking for something relaxing and authentic. It is easily walkable to everything in this enchanting town. We moved on and enjoyed the rest of our trip, but under different circumstances, my wife and I could’ve stayed much longer. There was more than enough room for our entire family. The house was charming and well equipped. "

"First off, Cortona is BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING! Such an amazing old walled city to walk, photograph and enjoy! Second, this property is one of the most beautiful and ancient places I’ve ever stayed! The halls and rooms were stunning. Old stone and iron everywhere. We stayed in the top room with the terrace. Oh man, I just can’t tell you how beautiful and fun this stay was. We sat on the terrace and watched the meteor shower while I did night photography! This property is stunning. The parking down the hill was free! Just pull into the parking lot, park, then call the desk to get you a taxi up to the hotel! Unless you’re fit and can climb a hill with suitcases get a quick 2 minute taxi up there! Trust me, it’s a walled city and the walk up and down is a thing! It’s only 150 yards or so but damn, it’s an ancient cobble stone hill! Get the ride! Bring comfy shoes because you’re gonna walk the whole town! "

Small stone farmhouse overlooking Cortona with private pool and garden

Great house, terrible parking

"Lovely renovated country house with olive grove outside the door and large swimming pool (which we didn't use because it was too cold). It was very clearly someone else's house, with many personal effects, photos, etc. which was a bit strange. The parking was terrible, across the street on a steep hill, with plenty of slippery mud from recent rains. It was difficult to pull out of the mud/gravel area onto the paved road. This was not made clear at all until we arrived at the house with the representative from the management company, when it was obviously too late to do anything about it. When we arrived we had to wash several coffee cups which had been put back on the shelf without washing by the previous tenant or cleaning person. The garden and pool were lovely, and would be fabulous in the summer. The bedroom with a double bed had no place to hang or store clothing. One thin blanket on each bed was barely OK for October, but definitely needs more for winter. We enjoyed our stay in the house, but the parking situation would be a big drawback to coming here again."

"The Villa di Piazzano is stunning down to the smallest detail. The staff is attentive, pleasant and helpful. The food and wine at the onsite restaurant was some of the best we had on our 23-day trip across Italy. One of our favorite stays for sure!"
