"Even though we all live very close near each other, (flat land and hot) we still wanted to vacation as a family, as we were going to visit family. We could’ve stayed at a hotel but decided against it and I’m sure glad we did. We were together yet we all had our own space. This place was perfect quiet, peaceful, relaxing, the breeze on the deck, the view of deers, birds, rabbits and yes the rolling fields. This place is amazing. Definitely would stay again."

"Big Horse Inn is a hidden gem in this part of Illinois. It is perfectly located, close to Dickson Mounds (great hiking trails), Emiquon National Wildlife Refuge, and the Illinois/Spoon River area. The room was spacious and the bed was comfy. Self check-in could not have been easier. Don't miss the attached Black Maple coffee shop for delicious breakfast and lunch options (and coffee, of course). The inn is within easy walking distance of a traditional small-town diner, Casey's, and Dairy Queen, so plenty of options for any dining budget!"
