"Really good location, spotless and a excellent breakfast each morning. We had a large, comfortable bedroom with an amazing view of the abbey (room 7). Tamzin is very friendly and helpful - nothing is too much trouble. We were given a parking permit for the duration of our stay. Will definitely go back - Anne and Steve."

"I liked that a lot of thought was put into the additions to the room and helpful folder . I was worried that I'd be woke up by seagulls or other guests but definitely no thin walls here . Nice to be able to walk to see the beach in less than a minute and Long King restaurant if you're hungry . We found being close to a bus stop very handy too . A great place to stay ."

"This guest house was perfectly situated with just a 10 minute walk to the harbor. The room was nice and clean, but the only downside was that the bed settee was a bit uncomfortable and the shower made a really load noise when it was switched on."

"The hotel was clean, comfortable and friendly. The breakfast was excellent, with host Paul, giving useful anecdotes on Whitby, places to visit and things to see. Weather was a bonus."

"Over complicated check in process (envelope was empty). Bent key (that wasn't labelled Yale as per instructions). The kettle wasnt clean, no tassimo coffee as per the in room guidance, worn out mattress, no wifi code available, an opened and partly used shampoo bottle left in the room without a lid The car port has space for two cars 24/7 access only (yet only four rooms) instructed to move car to streets away. What appears to be blood marks on a door frame with discarded clothing. ...

"Lovely and relaxing break away from the stresses if everyday life. Beautiful rural location a short drive from Sandsend and Whitby. Local shops within walking distance. Spacious accomodation with lovely garden and welcoming hosts living next door. Can't wait to go back again in October. "

Loved our stay at The Royal Hotel

"Really enjoyed our stay. All the staff were lovely. They were having refurbishments done to the rooms. We stayed in one of the refurbished rooms and were very impressed with our stay. Would definitely stay here again. The hotel had great views and was a short walk away from the shops. "

Friendly & comfortable hotel

"Lovely clean room, comfy bed. Ate in the bar & enjoyed a nice meal, friendly staff in bar area. It was not warm enough to sit in the garden but in warmer weather there were plenty of tables outside in a nice spacious garden. Hotel is situated away from the centre of whitby but is very handy for the park & ride bus service which works out much cheaper than using the town car parks. "

"We really enjoyed our stay but found the cleaning timetable below expectations. We like to relax after lunch but our room was not cleaned until after 3pm which meant that we had to arrange our activities around the hotel schedule rather than the other way round. When we asked there appeared to be no flexibility in the cleaning schedule ."
