"When arrived it seemed that they were overbooked. Our studio was given to someone else. The replacement studio they gave us was terrible. A studio with 3 beds present. No table, no chairs, no curtains in street level bedroom, no towels, no hot water, reserved parking lot not available. No refund suggested or a gesture for the inconvenience. Bad hospitality."

"We stayed for one night. The unit was large and offered plenty of space. Parking was convenient and dining options were within walking distance. The staff was very helpful; there was a slight mixup with the room, but they were able to come up with a solution we were happy with. Thank you."

"Reallu great experience, the host was great and the location is amazing. My only conpaint is tge running trains are a bit loud, but San Jose is a noisy place no matter where you stay so no stars lost. Ill try to stay here again soon."

"Friendly staff. Aparta-Hotel was really nice and had everything I needed."

"In the bed we found HAIR from the last occupant. The hotel had not even changed the sheets. Upon our arrival the receptionist said he had no reservation for us and made no effort to resolve the issue in spite of the fact that we were the only ones present. He just rudely ignored us, and I speak Spanish "

"The pictures on the website are misleading. The hotel rooms look nothing like the pictures. The towels were very dingy looking and very old. The bedding looked like it had been washed by putting it in a sink. The shower had grime in the corners and where you had to stand. there was no shower curtain so when you showered the bathroom floor would be a giant puddle when you were done. "Nice hotel in a good spot in Barrio Escalante. It was nice to have our own apartment with a kitchen. Room was clean and the staff was friendly. I could tell that booking through Expedia was an extra hurdle for them, because we didn't get standard messages like our room door code or the wifi details, those appeared to be arranged some other way which was not known to me. It's well worth the money, but maybe book on a different platform."

The food was great I just wish that they could have perhaps a limited menu for room service that might be available up until 12 midnight. However... overall the facility... the staff and the experience was wonderful!!!!!!!!!"

"Service 10/10. Traveling as a solo female I was greeted with hospitality, smiles, and nothing but making sure I was enjoying my time. Different restaurants which is perfect if you like to explore menus. Taxi service to wherever you like arranged from the hotel. Rooms are simple, clean, air conditioned but the property is where this resort shines. 2 pools one cold and one hot, hot tubs, golf course, walkways and so much history!"

"Jason at the front desk went above and beyond to make our stay truly wonderful. During a very difficult time—our son required emergency surgery at nearby Clínica Bíblica—Jason showed incredible kindness and support. He anticipated our needs, accommodated every request with genuine care, and consistently checked in to ask how our son was doing. I sincerely hope Gran Hotel recognizes what an exceptional team member they have in him. Beyond Jason, the porters and concierge staff were also excellent—friendly, attentive, and professional. The food at the hotel was very good, with the brunch standing out as a highlight. The location is ideal—within walking distance to several museums and just across the street from the National Theatre. All in all, a fantastic hotel in a prime location. You really can’t go wrong here. And if you have the chance, be sure to ask for Jason."
