The Landsford Canal, technically a navigation channel parallel to the line of a watercourse, opened in 1823 with the purpose of bypassing rapids along the Catawba River in order to allow efficient freight transport and rapid travel between nearby communities and settlements along the rural frontiers of the era. This was the canal, it's amazing to walk through these wall that once carried boats.

"Never judge a book by its cover. Photo of motel on site is "okay" but it is actually a very clean and spacious room with a microwave and refrigerator. My main issue was the internet was terrible and cell service not much better in the area. This was frustrating trying to do work in the evening. Otherwise, not a bad place to stay."

"showed up and the person at the front desk was actually one of the nicest people I've encountered ever, they allowed me to keep my bag at the desk which really helped me out after I had checked out. You can literally see Carowinds from the parking lot, so if thats why you're in the area this is a perfect hotel, room did have a big of a musty (not smokey) smell, I did not mention it or really care, but based on my experience with the staff, they would have fixed this in two seconds. Also theres a Daves famous and twin peaks also within seconds of the hotel. "
