We stayed one night in Dholpur--a quiet outpost on the road to Agra--at the Raj Niwas, a 19th-century palace hedged by private gardens. We arrived late and were met by the proprietress, an animated woman appropriately named ‘Bubbles’, who settled us into a cavernous suite at the top of an elegant staircase. With weary glee we examined our room's elaborate bath with eight shower heads, ornately furnished dressing chamber, and 40-foot ceiling decorated with intricate, glittering tile. "Although a little further away from the obvious tourist drawcards of Agra than we first realised, we were welcomed by the most endearing family who lived on the property and served as the caretaker/security staff. Perhaps one of our deepest experiences where a complete lack of our native English language,was more than made up for by the sincerity that the family showed. The property itself is very new ,but very secure and as long as you factor in transport via taxis etc is a lovely clean place....

"This is the world most beautiful hotel!! And the world’s top notch staff! Everyone is so hospitable and gracious. Wish I could have stayed longer.l. "I had a lovely time at this hotel. At first, I was skeptical in booking because as an Amercian, I the name of the hotel wasn't familiar. But this hotel was exceptional. I had book Hyatt in a different location which I regretted. If I had knew about this Taj chain, I would have booked in all the cities I visited. Excellent room. Thye upgraded my room, and they breakfast menu was above a beyond. Even, they room service food was excellent. I would recommend this hotel in a heartbeat. "

"The hotel was wonderful. Nice selection with the buffet breakfast. We also enjoyed relaxing for a drink at the roof top after a long day. Our room was spacious and very comfortable (minus the external noise of traffic but this is to be expected when staying in the center of everything)."
