"The "Hotel" is actually a set of apartment rentals in a very large, gated condo development being built on a supposedly protected coastline in Basilicata. Substantial sections of the development appear unfinished or abandoned. The apartments are large, air conditioned and well furnished and ideal for a week-to-month beach stay with children. "The property is in a great location on the edge of the historic old town with views just outside of the valley and caves as well as the historic church of San Pietro Caveoso with the Casa Grotta. Breakfast was very good also. Just bear in mind that the property is in the city restricted zone so we had to park around 0.5 miles away and walk with our bags - would have been good if the property description mentioned this as well as pointing out where you can park. Maters is a fantastic little place...

"The hotel is in a great location to explore Matera, and some of the rooms are in actual caves (it's a great experience for a night or two) without windows. These rooms are very nice and have a good spacious shower. Some rooms are not in the check-in building and so a walk down some stone steps may be required. "
