"Really nicely decorated and spacious property. It was difficult to heat downstairs on the first couple of days (but was particularly cold outside) and there were no logs or kindling for the fire. We had a great stay regardless!"

"The Old Brewery is im the beautiful medieval market town of Richmond. There are numerous walks in the area, several delightful pubs amd restaurants, and it is a great base for exploring North Yorkshire. The property itself, though, needs some work. The kitchen and dining room are beautiful. The living rooms are extremely comfortable (with the exception of one chair). The bedrooms and bathrooms each have their quirks and drawbacks. "You enter the property though an out-house at the end of a path. There’s no working outside light so, if you arrive late or like to go out on an evening take a torch. When we arrived, the bins were overflowing, and bags of rubbish had been piled up along the path. The outside area doesn’t get cleaned or maintained so, if you like al fresco dining you need a stiff brush and bucket of soapy water to clean away all the rotting fruit, leaves and debris. "Property was very clean and had all the facilities required for a pleasant stay. Booking of property was confusing due to both parties offering damage waivers - started the stay off on wrong foot as paid both. Although, the property itself helped dilute this additional payment."

"I would like to have given 5 star for service as when we ordered food from the bar the staff were attentive, polite and very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. However earlier in the evening I called the restaurant from the room to book a table, when I had only said hello I was met with a very abrupt ‘the line is terrible’ to which I stated ‘I’m sorry I’m calling from one of the phones in the rooms’. I then proceeded to request a table and again very abruptly told we have nothing until 8.30/8.45. I really felt like it was too much trouble and didn’t feel welcomed at all. I booked the table initially for 6 people, we were I fact part of a lager group of around 20 people staying at the hotel for an event we were attending the next day. Having spoke to the other people in the party we decided against it and ate from the bar instead. I would not recommend anyone to book to dine at the restaurant based on this encounter. Also may I add that most of the tables were not occupied from around 7pm until the time we were told we could eat from so I don’t understand why we couldn’t get a reservation either. Very disappointing experience. "
