Location, location, location
Fantastic location, a block behind Cathedral. Great view from third floor. No noise. Two floor walk-up Reception desk. Front door closes early, but will open til late. Good beds, Netflix doesn't work well, basic ornaments in room. Plenty of hot water, good shower and bathroom. Basic buffet breakfast, with margarine not butter and packaged juices, but all else good. Nice and helpful staff. Very good value for price. Would book again.

In the heart of the city.
The hotel is located just right at Plaza de Armas which is the center of the historic district. This makes it a good starting point to explote the city of Cusco. It is an old hotel so don't expect an elevator. This isn't an issue for me but maybe for senior citizens so ask for help. Breakfast is very simple and the same every morning. But at least eggs are freshly cooked since they only make them after you order. The staff is also very friendly and helpful so that's a huge plus. The cons: heating isn't that strong so you must still wear layers even when inside, at least in the winter when i was there. Hot water temperature the shower is inconsistent so sometimes it will turn a little cold then heat up again. Lastly your key only works in your room and not the main entrance to the hotel which is locked. You have to ring the bell so one of the staff will come down to let you in since the lobby is on the second floor. However I understand its an old establishment so i understand its not your typical modern hotel . The pros outweigh the cons unless you're into first class accommodations.

Comfortable Hotel in a Great Location
Hostal El Triunfo was a great, centrally located place to stay. It was very clean and the staff were kind, helpful and efficient. Tea was also available throughout the day to help with the high altitude. Thank you!

I honestly loved the service. Everyone was so nice and friendly. The location was perfect, everything was closed to it. Main plaza was just steps away. I wish I could’ve stayed longer than 21 days but definitely would come back. I recommend it!

Really excellent Hostal, the nicest we’ve stayed in during our trip to Peru. Lovely breakfast and, by some distance, the best shower we’ve had in the whole of South America. Excellent location about 2 minutes from the main squad. Very friendly and helpful staff as well, we rebooked for another two nights after our trip to Maccu Picchu.

We were very happy with this booking. The staff was very helpful and accommodating, which made for a very smooth experience. Our room was very spacious with a large and comfortable bed. Good quality bedding. The shower was great, as was the wifi, fast and reliable. Our room was on the 3rd floor and towards the back of the property, and was very quiet at night, which was a very pleasant surprise. The location was great as well. A block from Plaza de Armas, super easy to quickly get out and explore the fantastic Cusco. We would book this hotel again in a second.

The hostel is located half a block from the Main Square and very close to many important places in the city. Rooms are spacious and spot,esos, hot running water all day long. Breakfast is fresh and plentiful. All staff members made our stay even better, being very friendly and helpful. It was an excellent experience, thank you Giovanna, Celia, Veronica!

Very close and convenient to everything we were interested in doing and seeing in the two days we were there. We were hoping for more selection for breakfast. Also it was also difficult getting suitcases up 2 flights of stairs.

You can't beat the location!
Perfectly situated a few steps from Plaza de Armas with very basic breakfast (but good enough to start the day). Room is good enough with very basic toiletries (a small soap and a sachet of shampoo). WiFi connection is reliable. Just be aware that it can be challenging for taxis to find this place (if you are taking one from the airport) as the street name is not Triunfo but calle Sunturwasi. If you don't want your taxi to be lost for many minutes, I highly recommend that you ask the taxi to drop you off the Paddy's Irish Pub next to the Cathedral. Then just walk up calle Sunturwasi and you will find the hotel in your left.

We are very satisfied with our stay at Hostal El Triunfo. The location is perfect. It's located in the centre of the Historic District. We found the Main Square, St Pedro's Market and a lot of nice restaurants are only within walking distance. The room is really comfy and clean, especially the bathroom. The nice water pressure makes shower extra refreshing. Heating system keeps people warm during the night. Also, the view from my room is beautiful. The room exceeds our expectations for a hotel of this price. The breakfast is basic but delicious. They have scrambled eggs, ham, fresh fruits, yoghurt, cereal and bread. The breakfast starts our day with energy. The front desk staff is friendly and helpful. She offered us information about taxi service, nearby pharmacies, etc.

Nice hostal, service and breakfast to be improved
The hostal has a great location, just one block from the Plaza de Armas. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was simple and practically the same everyday, which could have been improved. Overall, the hostal is good and I would recommend staying here. The only issue I had, as noted in my previous review, is that the room they gave us was not the one shown when booked at hotels.com. The room shown online was a suite, with a small sofa area. The room they actually gave us was much smaller, with no sofa, just a double bed. When confronted, the staff at the front desk said that they only have one suite and it is assigned automatically, so she could not do anything about it, and that the pictures shown on the website, not reflecting reality, are not her responsibility either. We felt cheated, but at that point, we could not cancel (since it was already after the change deadline) and it would be very difficult to find another place to stay. So, if you are booking a double room, the large room you see in the pictures might, and probably will not be what you get.
