"The Occidental Tamarindo is one of a handful of All Inclusives in Costa Rica. Keep in mind if you’re looking for a Mexican Style “let’s get wasted resort” this is not what you’re looking for. The pace is relaxed and the food at the buffets is local style. If you want steak It’s good but it’s also Not tender like American/Canadian beef. They rate the resort 4/5 stars, really what you have are rooms that would be 3’s, they are ample size comfortable and clean but they were never finished with that 5star building quality to warrant 5 stars. The service is friendly and upbeat, but also laid back. The pool is excellent as is the beach area. Great tours depart from the area and it’s a wonderful place for a great family vacation or couples trip "

"This was a lovely well kept hotel on the outskirts of Tamarindo. The property is beautiful and right on a gorgeous beach, but with a shaded area with beach chairs. The hotel staff is especially friendly, the beach area is also staffed. The room was spacious and clean, with a fridge, stovetop and microwave. Breakfast is delivered to your room, which has a patio so you can eat inside or out. Bathroom huge and very clean. Highly recommend! "

"Beautiful ocean views from the room with private patio. Loved cooling off in the infinity pool with the swim up bar while enjoying incredible views. We arrived very early so had breakfast at the restaurant while the hotel put a rush on our rooms. We very much appreciated the early check in plus the bottle of wine left in the room for us. This hotel is perched up on the hill away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Tamarindo but an easy shuttle ride from the hotel to all of the restaurants, shopping and beach. We will be back. Thank you for going out of your way to accommodate us and for making our stay a memorable one!"

"The room was absolutely beautiful and very clean. Although the toilet ran water all night and my key for the door was very finicky! And there was no one at the desk to help with either of these issues. I was also annoyed at the bar across the street that was very loud till 2am. "
