Boathouse on Maple Bay
Right over the water with stunning uninterrupted views of Maple Bay, Saltspring Island, and Birds Eye Cove Marina. Enjoy a glass of wine on the deck, watch the moon rise over Saltspring Island, or bundle up for storm watching and then a steam shower. Bring your boat! Dock space is available.
There are 2 kayaks available for use but shared with us. Ask about the “kayak pub crawl”.
There is a BBQ outside the cabin but no indoor cooking facilities. There is a small fridge, coffee maker, and kettle.

Beatiful view from the bed. We were lucky to be there on a full moon. Stunning views day and night!

Beautiful property, great stay. We had the owners dog walk us down to the room every time we came back in the car. Room is nice but gets quite warm. There is a ceiling fan and you can also open the door to great more breeze. We would definitely stay again. View and the sound of the water what makes this a 5 star stay. Thank you
Spectacular view, cute clean accommodations, good communication with host and very quiet. Close to all amenities in Duncan. We’d definitely come again!
This little cottage is tiny but packed with charm. If you are looking for a restful getaway this is the perfect spot. There is access to the dock for kayaking and hammocks to relax and read a book.
Absolutely lovely! I’m not sure if it is possible to sleep closer to the oven without getting wet. The boathouse is nicely appointed for a short stay. Lots of wildlife to view from the deck with great sunrises and moon rises. I would definitely stay here again.
We loved the views. twas wonderful to sit on the deck in the evening with a glass of wine. Also used the kayak; thanks for that. Also having morning coffee watching the seaplane land and take-off was brilliant.
Our stay here was so restful, just sitting in the Adirondack chairs and looking out on the water was the best. The place is small, but thoughtfully designed so that it does not feel cramped. We greatly enjoyed the whole community including several nearby pubs. We also did a little hiking. The whole place was just what our harried souls needed.
I would highly recommend this accommodation. The location is beautiful and relaxing and we enjoyed the dock and kayaks. It was nice a clean. A friendly heads up that although this comes up as a Salt Spring Island listing when you search, it is on Vancouver Island. My mistake that I didn't investigate further but ideally it wouldn't show up there.
We had a fantastic stay at the Boathouse, and are very grateful to our hosts for allowing us to enjoy their gorgeous property. It is truly paradise! The views from the bed are stunning; our most enjoyed moments were relaxing on the deck, watching sea lions, herons, sail boats, and float planes passing by. We stayed for 3 nights and the bnb had everything we needed and more. The steam shower was a lovely bonus, the barbecue was great for meals, and we are so appreciative of it being pet-friendly, there were even doggy dishes set out for us. We had a great time, and would love to come back next year!
Amazing views. This little converted boathouse offers a quiet and comfortable world class view of beautiful Maple Bay. Enjoyed watching otters, great blue herons and belted kingfishers. There are 3 restaurants on the bay and all are reasonably close. We were disappointed that although the sheets and pillow cases were clean, they were covered with stains.

The view is unbelievable. The room was not ready on time but the treats (wine) made up for it :) It is a lot of money but the views, privacy, use of kayaks and steam shower are all included. I wish we had of booked 2 nights instead of one!
The “boat house” is so comfortable, clean and inviting and has everything you’ll need for a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The space is surrounded by the bluest skies, glistening water, a rocky shoreline, framed by the vistas of territorial island, ALL with cool crisp water lapping up at the rocky shoreline immediately below. Don’t miss the opportunity for a swim! Views from every window, your bed, and the deck. You won’t want to leave ;-)
PS Be sure to check out the Cowichan wineries, and the mural in Chemainus. .
It was wonderful to wake up to amazing water views.
Owner was very very prompt in giving information and suggestions.
They left us sweet treats and champagne.
Providing deck towels, extra blankets etc. was very thoughtful.
However, the one big thing that spoilt our experience was that the queen size bed was extremely uncomfortable to sleep on and we could barely get any sleep on it.
Check in was a breeze and the boathouse was super cozy and was just the right space for 2 and pets.
We had beautiful (but hot) weather and we did find it a bit warm in the early evening, but with the doors open with the screen in place there was a nice breeze.
Was wonderful sitting with our morning coffee looking out over the serene setting, taking note of herons, otters, fish, and even some humans lol.
For activities we went on a couple of nice hikes, took our SUPs out with our doggies, and visited a local pub for my birthday dinner - all in all there's lots to do and the location didn't disappoint.
We would definitely come back!
What an amazing place! Can't praise this slice of heaven enough. Just the view makes the whole experience worthwhile, but the fact that I found in the mini fridge all the necessity for many mimosas and homemade scones was the icing on top. If you come during summer time, I would say bring a little fan(which I did) as it gets pretty toasty in there. The bed is sooo comfortable and the wildlife makes the whole experience so much more magical. I felt like snow white the entire trip, treasure hunting every morning on low tide. Really, I can't recommend this place enough. Will definitely come back.
We arrived and walked into a Canadian postcard. The property is EXACTLY as described - only the setting is even more beautiful. Birds, boats, seals, sea critters, the sun rises and sets on this spot. The "boathouse" conversion was carefully undertaken - with clean, neutral finishes and well-laid out, fits naturally into the setting. Private, quiet - even though there is another house on the property. Great bed and linens. Check out local restaurants, hike and day trip options. ....Our host, Ronda, was exceptional - clear, timely communications before, during, and after our stay - event patient + prompt when we had to follow up on a silly item we left behind. : / We will dream of our next visit. (Be sure not to miss the steam shower! )
