"The apartment was nice but not always functional. It looked like more attention was paid to esthetics than to everyday living. For example, there was no kettle - either electric or otherwise - to boil water. No medium sized pans for soup. No drainboard for washed dishes. A little olive oil for cooking would have been appreciated. We had to buy a huge bottle of sunflower oil and leave it. Instructions for the washing machine and dryer would help for non Europeans. "Seven of our family members stayed 8 nights. The location was perfect for a quick walk to grocery store, bakery (every day!) and a variety of restaurants. We walked to the Royal Palace, Cathedral, Grand Via, Plaza Mayor and the World’s Oldest Restaurant Sobrino de Botin (Guinness World Records). A 20 minute Uber ride took us to the train for a 40 minute ride to a day in Toledo. We all were very happy to return to “our apartment” to rest for dinner and evening strolls. Beautifully decorated apartment, with lovely artwork pieces including images of swirling Dervishes, tapestries, vases… A selection of great books from James Baldwin to Amin Maalouf, art books on Madrid architecture, Goya’s paintings… very comfortable bedroom, and so on.
