Cornelia’s house is located in the Dikastiria area that has taken its name from the historic Courthouse building at Eleftherias square (which means “Freedom square” in Greek). Ιn the square you can see the statue of Eleftherios Venizelos, the most famous politician of modern Greece, born in Chania. Behind the Courthouse lies the iconic Orthodox church of St. Peter and Paul, one of the biggest churches in the city and very popular with the locals for religious events like weddings and christenings.
The neighborhood of ‘Dikastiria’ ( i.e Courthouse) is one of the most beautiful areas famous for its wonderful 19th century neo classical buildings but also for its vibrant cafes and restaurants very popular with locals. The area also offers supermarkets, local groceries, bakers as well as a wide range of services like hairdressers, beauticians, pilates studios, gyms and the private clinic of ‘Tsepetis’ at walking distance. Our house is also within a 10 minutes of walking distance to the seafront promenade and beach of Koum Kapi!
The center of Chania and the Venetian Old Harbour can be reached at a 15’ walk. Alternatively, in the square you can find 24/7 taxi and a bus stop with frequent services around the city.
