Lovely villa in an amazing location
We held a family reunion in the first week of April 2019 at Villa Daphne. There were 10 of us ranging from 3 years old to 83. The villa is in a stunning location with outstanding views of Souda Bay and the mountains. It is roomy and was very clean on arrival. The maid came at least twice during the stay and did a great job. All the bedrooms are comfortable with amazing views. The gardens are extensive and are a source of pride for the owner - they are well worth wandering around. The villa is on a steep hill so it has multiple levels and a lot of thought has gone into the layout. The only negative is that the entry gate is tight for anything larger than a mid size car. The pool is great but there is not really a shallow end, perhaps 1.3 m min, so you need to keep an eye on the little ones. There are plenty of high quality loungers around the pool. The BBQ area is excellent - we had a couple of great meals down there and enjoyed ourselves even on the occasion that it rained because there is adequate coverage. There is a fridge, an electric oven and a full set of plates/cutlery down there to support the BBQ logistics. There are 2 sea kayaks and we had a great time exploring with them but be aware that squalls can develop out of nothing in this area so wear the life jackets provided and consider staying within the confines of the immediate bay if the weather looks changeable. It was hard work getting the heavy sea kayaks to and from the launch area but worth the effort. The villa is secluded but is still very convenient for the airport. It was about 30 mins drive to get to Chania in this early season period. Dimitri, the landlord, was very hospitable and looked after us well. We would definitely come back here given the opportunity.
