"This is a very comfortable place with a great fireplace an awesome kitchen and a very cool vibe. While I rated the staff and Service excellent to be completely honest, I didn’t see any staff. The communication I had from the folks running the facility was spot on, so will call that great service! What made it even nicer was on this particular stay there were awesome people staying there which made for great camaraderie. I would go back!"

"This historic property has been lovingly refurbished into a modern day inn. There are clean,shared bathrooms. The outside porch and sitting areas overlook the lake with fabulous views. The owner was friendly and made home made muffins for breakfast. My only complaint is the noise from the motocyclists during the evening."

"Inn keeper was so accommodating, gave us plenty of ideas for fun in the Lake Winnipesaukee area, The Ballard House has been featured in the Yankee Magazine, a lot of history. Beautiful back deck with outstanding view of mountains."

"I love this place - the only issue was the heater in the room would not regulate - it was a steady 79 degrees no matter how much we tried to lower the thermostat. We followed instructions but we could not lower it"

"We stay at the Brook Wood Inn when visiting family in nearby Unity. This was our 2nd stay at the Inn and it is very relaxing place to stay. The common areas and kitchen is great, we always make our own breakfast and have a nice cup of coffee together each morning :)"

"Didn't like that no staff was available or reachable! Power out - no response. Check-in problems - no staff or response. Coffee maker quit - nobody to help us or to inform on site in the moment Reservations were a mess due to "responses" from Expedia (our booking service), VRBO, and "Hosteeva" - the last 2 of which we never used! Who is in charge and why are they not there? The system sucks."

"You need carpeting upstairs- the amount of stomping around at 530am over the weekend was frustrating. I also understand not serving food right now- however to expect guests to not eat in the comfort of their own rooms and expecting them to eat out in a common area but not serving food is a little hypocritical to be honest. The facility was nice, i liked being able to come and go as i pleased. "

Perfect Getaway Location

"The greatest appeal to this home is obviously going to be the view. Unparalleled! Bill made sure the place was set up with everything we would need to make our stay a comfortable one. We had 14 guys staying there and it still felt very roomy. Tons of nooks to tuck away in to have conversations. Tons of open areas for group times.The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you need. (A very important factor for our group.)There was an area power outage on Saturday night and Bill was fantastic about communicating with us what was going on and when the power was expected to come back on. Yes...the road up the hill is steep. But even with a little fresh fallen snow on the ground, we all made it down the hill without problems. Hey...it was Winter in New Hampshire. Snow is expected.Great place and well worth renting."
